They start off in a room/area similar to Xenobiology, but instead of slimes in the cells, they get SCPs. One cell contains the sculpture, another contains perhaps another violent alien if they already exist. Their role is to preform tests on the xenos using the monkeys at their disposal, making sure which ones are and which ones aren't the most dangerous. After that, they keep them locked up and make sure none of them escape. If a Foundation Scientist is an antagonist, they could make it their duty to release all of the SCPs from their containers, and ensure the death of everyone on the station.
