Farya, what else can we implement that would incentivise roleplay? At this point it's purely up to the playerbase. If people want to roleplay of their own volition, they will. If they want to be P2Wing shitters, they will.
-
Okay, this sounds nice and all, but why can't people just roleplay it? Be creative. Why rely on a scripted system as a crutch?
If people want to make the psych role something more prominent, why not be the change you want to see and actually roleplay characters with mental illnesses?

you guys

Just take a break, seriously. I find that after I take a week or two long break, I find SS13 fun again.
-
I'll probably do an AI guide on the buttload of commands, since AI is all I fucking play.
-
It just didn't feel right and I kind of annoyed myself within the first minute.
So that was you that did S.A.R.G.E. at the start of the one round? I at least got a chuckle at it. "All right you shitstains", then I immediately went, "Language." I could only imagine what the rest of the round would have been like with that.
Ha, yeah, that was my attempt at a new gimmick. It literally lasted all of two minutes before I asked the admins to rename my back to Grandma. That wizard would definitely not have been allowed to roam the station if I stayed as S.A.R.G.E.

UPDATE I HATE OTHER GIMMICKS BACK TO GRANDMA
-
Inspiration strikes. I'll be testing a few personalities today. They're no Grandma, but they're going to be as over-the-top as she was.
-
Hey. I play G.R.A.N.D.M.A. and while I really, really enjoy that AI personality, I might retire her and try others. Do you guys have any suggestions for fun AI gimmicks/personalities you'd like to see?

>people voting me as AI
t-thanks, guys.

Is this to stop borgs from seeing the law and just rampantly murdering people? Because if it is, just tell the cyborgs to quit it. If they continue, adminhelp it for disobeying their AI master.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. After the primary antags of a round are dead, it basically becomes extended until the transfer shuttle. As it stands now, I notice most rounds last the entire two hours until a transfer shuttle, and a lot of these uneventful rounds are quite, well, boring for most people. Not only that, but what becomes of the victims of the antags? Maybe some rounds should be kept short and sweet. I understand that the players are given the opportunity to vote, but this seems a little...forced? I don't know.
-
The issue is that for a lot of antags, their objectives are exactly that: binary. How would you incorporate a percentage rating for the objective to steal item x, or kill person y?
-
Well, I don't doubt that. From a purely gameplay perspective, my I still stand that by my argument that it's a stupid objective. OP makes a good point. Why should you have to choose between dying and getting the success at the end and not dying and getting a failure? If the lore is as malleable as you say, then what's to say that people aren't brainwashed to the Syndicate? I feel that would be a better solution. Not only would it make this objective unnecessary, but it would give people some wiggle room to roleplay a defector or something along those lines.
-
Is that the generally agreed upon lore? I always assumed people were deeply in debt, or their families were threatened until they did something for the Syndicate.
-
But these agents are not exactly loyalty to the Syndicate the way loyalty implanted crewmembers are to Nanotrasen and whatnot. They just won't receive their orders and go "well, looks like I better kill myself!". Will the Syndicate send someone after them? From a lore perspective, absolutely. However, logically speaking, these people would likely try and defect to Nanotrasen.
-
Yeah, I agree. It's kind of a stupid objective.

meh fuck it i'm not supporting this anymore
Out of sheer curiosity, why not?

Vox. Seriously, I hate this fucking race. Not to the point where I metagrief them or have an IC grudge against them, but whenever I see one, my blood boils. I don't know if it's the way they speak or the fact they mostly speak to one another in their native tongue or what. Holy SHIT IT MAKES ME MAD.
-
Fair enough. Some people do seem to have an "IT'S MINE" mentality when it comes to stolen items in their possession. I play an assistant a lot of the time. Do I tend to steal a lot? Sure. Do I get arrested a ton? Absolutely. Do I throw a fit when I get my shit confiscated? Nah. You caught me fair and square.

Just because command staff is fiercely loyal to NT doesn't mean they emulate their shrewd practices and ethics. A functional, happy research station is a productive one anyway. I'm sure NT wants their stations performing at 100% to milk everything they can out of them.

Illegal? Sure, under petty theft perhaps. Not in accordance with the roleplay standards of the server? Maybe pushing it a little bit. My assistant character gets into a lot of trouble with security for stuff like this. I don't take it OOCly, because I know the risks when I took/stole the tools/gloves/whatever. As for the actual roleplay legitimacy, a lot of things people do on the server hold no "roleplay legitimacy". Does it make them right? Not necessarily, but as someone said before, we're medium roleplay (I assume). An assistant with a toolbelt full of tools is pretty low on the list.
