Honestly, what you'd be doing would be stripping Nuke ops that we HAVE down to a shell. Honestly.
Removing avenues of game play Isn't really the answer to improving nuke ops.

I can't agree enough. Its time we got rid of greentext IMO. Binary win/loss conditions makes things quite stale after a this long of playing. I do hope I'm not alone on this. Setting your ambition for the round can add some depth of character, and make each round at least a tad unique

The hos, is in charge of sec, but the captain is in charge of the HOS, and the HOS cannot demote his staff by himself since he does not have ID computer access.
Ultimately the captain is in charge of the efforts to stop the bad guys and that means keeping the "good guys" going.

Here is my advice. I want to add to that list.
1. Stop being so self critical.
if you're a good captain, you'll get a reputation as such and considering some of the regulars who play captain, if you actually keep your ears open to others Suggestions, and are able to stop yourself from powertripping.
2. Don't be afraid to be hated, called names, or "disrespected". You will be. By ALOT of your staff.
3. Keep your dogs on a leash.
Sec team is very rarely 100% experienced and fair players, Though In my experience, a lot of them are.
There will always be those who either don't care about SOP, or space law or are valid hunting players in guise of Sec Officers. Don't be afraid to give them their well earned victory when they follow the rules, but when you hear of summery executions of Antags, or major breaches of SOP, bring down the hammer, you're more or less one person they're accountable to. (In character of course)
4. You keep yourself at a reasonable distance to your departments.
Let me expand on that.
A good captain makes sure to delegate the tasks given to his departments at the start of the shift, to those departments. They only reach down the chain of command whenever their is something or someone keeping a job from being done. Because the captain holds the power to draw manpower and resources from ANY OTHER department to help said task get done. Not do it himself, but make SURE the job is done by using his Absolute access and authority, not him/her doing it themselves.
But, on the other side of the same coin, you need to know when to intervene DIRECTLY. which is a sense you'll develop in time.
Delegate, Discipline, Coordinate & only intervene when needed.

Try to fight a combat drone in a Laser- enabled Pod. Try. you will ALWAYS lose.
The problem is not the weapons, the fire delay, anything like that, but the ATROCIOUS speed nerf.
All there is to say about that really. The Speed nerfs were TOO much to make pod pilot even worth playing. its really really shitty now. and totally unwinnable vs drones as it stands.

Disarm is already OP.
You can win a lot of fights by shoving someone, taking their weapon, and shooting/whacking them with it.
It doesn't matter if they're a sec officer with a supposedly good energy gun, a wizard of unfathomable power, etc.
You can still run up to them, and probably get that weapon out of their hands with a disarm if you really try.
Heck, melee in general is OP. In real life, shoot someone once and they are down, not for a few seconds, but for hours.
Any kind of proper weapon in SS13 is ridiculously weak by comparison - which makes melee moves like disarm ridiculously powerful compared to what you'd expect.
Sure, perhaps this is deliberate design, but at what point does it become silly?
I seriously cannot agree enough. Combat is not great in this game, everyone knows that but its also severally unbalanced thanks to disarm.
Maybe the idea of taking disarm back to the drawing board for some tweaks is a good thing. I feel a lot of people who should have won a combat instance lost it not due to their personal incompetence but the fact the disarm RNG is TOO good for a combat system that is little built around little more then spam click.
These are good example features. Combat could use some expansion/increased depth. This is coming from someone who practically lives security, so take it as you will. But I've been on both sides of the baton and can firmly say disarm/grab could use some depth in the way of changing how it effects damage zones.

Suggestion! how about, like aliens Resin floors spiders can make "webs" that increase their speed while moving, slow foreign mobs etc. maybe even give them a bit of stealth.

holy shit that's right. We played poker and stuff with a wiz that was fantastic i totally almost forgot about that. That round was pretty unremarkable for everyone not involved with your shenanigans. Fun for everyone kind of shenanigans, mind. but second longest wiz round i can remember. I remember losing alot of money to Theodore LOL.

This is a copy past of my post on Johann Makes stuff thread but this time addressing coders and such.
Alright. My TWO ideas. First. White athletic shorts. I'm only putting this here because Johann Compelled me to and More cosmetics are always fun.
Pretty simple.
But my two BIG ideas, that i had MYSELF, simply put is that when you remove lipstick, IE, with a paper targeted at the mouth, it leaves a colored Kiss on it like that of a stamp or something. Call me a Hopeless romantic (Please) but I'd think it would be Cute little touch to the game.
Also a Dedicated blue shield hard suit. I made a mock up version myself but i lack creative talent and here is a link to that. South Facing side.

To me that only makes sense since The BS job is To SAVE heads since ALL of them have their own dedicated hardsuits. and he has to Get a Damn Suit out of EVA with the help of the AI every time. Pretty annoying IMO and it can cost lives in the time they have to wait to get what they need.

Twin mold did a adminbus Demonic invasion from the gateway. People responded well to it. Basically someone made the gateway a burning landscape with plasma and Twin took it to heart and made it a literal landscape and daemons pouring back to the station. ask him for more details. was quite fun.
