  1. my point is there isnt a greytide or any tryhards to worry about...there may be a few suckers like me clinging to hope, striving to become robust, but most people who encounter this game dont return
  2. ZN23X talks casually about greytide and tryhards...but with a game environment like the one aboard the cyberiad...new players 'mucking up your game' wont be a problem...
  3. So, I was thinking, maybe I should like... discuss my roleplaying history a bit, give some perspective to whoever... Ok, here goes: It all started with a cool red box...I was elected DM, cuz they were my books, and no one but me had any clear idea as to what we were doing. We played that classic D&D, and it was friggin EPIC. Seriously, still one of the best games I have ever run. After that it was the advanced stuff, with the unearthed arcana, monster manuals and all.. tomes upon tomes were poured over, their contents indelibly inscribed on our eager minds... Time passed, life stuff happened, but I always met players ('...you play d&d?' was a stock icebreaker) and since I had EXP in DMing I've run Cyberpunk (great), Shadowrun (friggin awesome), flirted with Rifts (wish I coulda done more of that, JUICER BABY!), and settled on GURPS... (I would have steve jackson baby) I have played freeform, with no rules or dice, tabletops with ALL the rules and lots of dice, obscure one-off stuff, and even looked at that thing d&d became (sad). Because I was almost always the DM, I got pretty good at playing different types of characters, giving NPC's as much depth as I could muster. Thus I developed that 'method' style I referred to. Gangbusters... any of you ever play that? Me either, I just read the books a lot. Anyway, I look forward to trying to make friends here. edited cuz I realized how much of a weirdo I sounded like
  4. This feels vaguely like an AA introduction... Me: Hi, Everyone, my name is Charlie, and I'm flippin looney. Everyone: Hi Charlie... Jokes aside, I play an abrasive miner named Ralph Chesterfeld. He (I) may have already rubbed some of you the wrong way. It's a bad habit of mine that Ralph seems to have picked up, all apologies. (I am sorry if I bit anyone, I really am very nice once you get to know me) He plans on writing a 'guide' to successful mining that will hopefully curb some of his toothgrinding. I have been playing role-playing games since they had you fill in your dice with a white crayon. I have developed an almost 'method' style of role play, and play several characters, each one reflecting a bit of my fractured personality. I like SS13 because it is the closest I have seen a videogame get to a true roleplaying game. Hats off to who made this wonderful stuff. Edited for a worse than normal writing error, effin crap
