    1) Shaft miner.

It's just.. you're important, but you don't *quite* make or break a round. You improve quality of life for almost everyone if you do your job, and you're a scumbag if you fuck off. It's very black and white to me. I try to bust my ass as a miner, it's more fun.

    If mining isn't available..

Cargo or janitor. Or mechanic. Depends on how useful I feel like being.

As a few others have said, if you think there is a problem with security, play it yourself. Be the change you want to see. You think security mistreats you, and your proposed solution is to create random characters for the sole purpose of screwing with security, so that they'll mistreat you? That's not going to fix anything.

    Play security. Do it better.

I've always felt that, especially on smaller forums, people who cry "necroposting" are usually doing so because it's an excuse to try to shut down a thread they don't like, or a person they don't like. On smaller forums like these the majority of the subforums will have threads on their front pages that are from 6+ months ago. Should we start a new thread about the same subject if we want to talk about that, even though a handful of posts down the same topic is there, from 6 months ago? Or would people then get upset that someone made a new thread about an existing topic? Would we get mad that someone didn't use the search function?

    People are never happy, really.

It was honestly kind of exciting to discover, I was out mining with another fellow, and he mentioned over supply comms that he'd found a goliath that simply WOULD NOT die. So I had to check it out! It was horrifying!

And then I found a hivelord and all it's damned flying bits. Had to hide to mine and stay on my toes. At least it was an interesting bug.

Harabec Weathers. The Immortal Phoenix. From Starsiege. General of the Free Martian Alliance. Rebel leader. Inspiration for the Children of the Phoenix tribe in Starsiege: Tribes, who happen to be the best tribe. You think your diamond sword or your blood eagle are rad? Naw. Children of the Phoenix 4 lyfe.

Starwolf are a bunch of nerds, too.

The point of this thread is that the large ammount of uncaring players is making the game difficult to enjoy for some people.

For example, I avoid playing as a command job if the playercount is above 25.

And I'm unwilling to join the game if there is more than ~60 players.

And I absolutely refuse to observe and admin if the server has above 100 players.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Except that I never take command roles ever, and of course not the admin bit. Definitely the hesitant/unwilling at about 60+.

Enjoyed our little tango earlier today in robotics! When I saw that ebow in your hands I knew I was screwed, but I got lucky. I forced myself to resign from mime after that for using my voice to shout over comms.

That was a really fun shift.

So what you're saying is...every greyshirt on station will now be a mixed martial arts expert?

More seriously though, I like the concept, but feel that with our current player base this will only allow civilians and other inconsiderate players to completely ruin the rest of the crew.

I know it can suck sometimes, but I feel like that's what we have sec, rules and admins for. It'll happen. It'll be frustrating. If it's grief, it'll get handled, and you'll be on your way.

But imagine if you're an antag. These options open up whole new worlds. It's almost exciting - and I'm the worst antag known to man.

As a tech you can send stuff to mining using the teleport pad and gun in the disposals room. If you're quartermaster you can ship it over by hand or shove it on their shuttle, or teleport.

Supply manifests, to an extent is up to you. Primarily send them back for points, but if you want to keep records, you can make a copy and keep the copy on your clipboard, maybe.

Yes, send empty crates away at the beginning for points. Empty crates, order papers, manifests, plasma. Points! But don't hoard all the plasma for yourselves. Science wants it too.

Mined minerals, get em to science. Typically firstly to the research department, but robotics is also somewhere they can go. You can ship em by hand, via wrap/destination tagger/disposals, or teleporting them to telescience using the pad.

Yeah, I'm no programmer so I can't even begin to imagine what kind of work it would take or if the game itself would be able to manage it well enough to be worth it, but I figured it was worth a suggestion!

And definitely, being able to pull pilots out would be fantastic. But I've only encountered a single situation where I felt like it was necessary. Then again I don't do mechanic too often, either.

  11.

Mechanic is hardly a necessary role to have filled, and this isn't a situation I've run into often, but at times in space you run into empty pods, and some not so empty. I recall once trying to find a way to rescue someone from a pod, I don't know if they were dead, dying or SSD, but an admin confirmed someone was inside, and we weren't able to come up with a way to get them out and take them stationside short of blowing up the pod. Which I'd rather not do.

So, what if there were a spacepod component that enabled you to tow other pods? I mean, you are a mechanic, towing is definitely something that fits the job. And the idea of bringing back an extra civilian or security pod for station/security use, while not using the materials to build them, sounds pretty neat.

Maybe a mechanic to allow the emergency ejection of a dead/ssd/unconscious pilot, too.

I don't have any idea if these are even remotely feasible codewise, or worth the effort, but I figured I'd toss it out there.

The majority of the CTD issues I was able to find were GFWL related, but it seems GFWL has been patched out of DoW2, and it's fully steamworks, now. So that shouldn't be your issue. Unless you haven't updated it.

However, Space Marine is a fairly enjoyable game. Not the greatest, but a pretty good time.

    I AM UNROBUST.

Still, my favorite story is how Eddie set fire to a xeno empress who was apparently unable or unwilling to put the flames out on their own. This happened minutes after they arrived on station, she slowly, slowly burned to death, and the xeno assault was ended.

Next round was another xeno. I was the first to die while wiring the solars. All the xenos came straight for me. WEIRD.
