Lets discuss Gambling

The deck of cards in the game is already particularly robust, so why not build on that. An interesting way to use these is an actual gambling system in the game. My suggestion involves a few minor tweaks and additions, that should make this actually possible.

First, the Token Dispenser:

This is a constructed item, made of simple metal. This item has two functions. It converts credits from your bank, into tokens, which stack in your inventory. You can stack as many tokens as you want, and even divide stacks apart. These are essentially poker chips like you see at casinos. The token dispenser can also convert the tokens back into credits, automatically placed in your account. One could start in the bar.

After that, add a shuffle verb to the Deck of cards, and the Syndie cards, and we can gamble on the station. Texas Hold em every Friday in the bar.

Can't you shuffle the deck of cards by clicking it while in your hand? Just grab the deck to your body, have it in your hand and click it. The rest of the suggestion sounds pretty good.

Sounds like good fun. I'd like to see more things people can do in game during extended/quiet rounds with self-motivated roleplaying.

Plus I grew up watching star trek, so the officer's poker game is perpetually part of my vision of Sci-fi.

As someone who has hosted a few poker games while playing as bartender, the token idea is brilliant. The awkwardness of using credits to gamble is probably why it doesn't happen more often.

Yeah, you can't keep the credits that easily and they don't stack and are a pain to use. At this rate we might have a roulette as well, or a wheel of fortune, hehehe.
