Nuke Ops Item: False CentComm Transmission.

Appears as a station bounced radio. One use. Allows the user to select a CentComm announcement for the station from all potential events.

Nuke Ops could use it to divert attention from areas they are breaching or even to throw the station into panic causing the crew to prepare for something that isn't even happening such as blob or spiders.

It could also be used for fake Ion anomaly reports to throw suspicion on the AI.

This would only create an announcement for the station. It wouldn't spawn any events or cause AI laws to change ect. I figure it could be useful for many sort of ops teams.

''attention crew, there are russian AI specialists ((the nukies)) coming to the station''

''attention crew, there is a fukken blob there''

''attention crew, we are sending the deathsquad''

''attention crew, all civillians ((including the powergaming validers)) need to be contained in the brig''

oh wait...only for event announcements?

Selecting fake random event announcements sounds okay. It would be a good way for the nuke ops to distract the crew, but I'm not sure how effective that would even be. The crew running around looking for a blob doesn't sound like it would benefit nuke ops a whole lot.

Custom centcomm annoucements don't sound like a great idea though, it would encourage the crew to ignore centcomm announcements, which is already a problem. It also opens up huge grey areas in the rules, for example, would security be allowed to murderbone the whole crew if a fake centcomm announcement told them to?

I don't really support this idea, it would lead to a lot of meta when, say, an announcement about a blob is made and no blob is found. People would just assume it was nuke ops immediately.

Most of the reports wouldn't really benefit the Operatives either, as they generally just lead the crew to better prepare themselves.

Blob was just given as an example. You could have "Spiders have been breeding in atmospherics." As an example to to have crew move toward engineering. Alternatively you could sound off a meteors event as you detonate C4 charges across the station. I think there's a lot f potential for it. The idea wasn't to use it during preplanning I would imagine nukeops would already be on the station z-level when using it for maximum effect.

Sure, it has some uses, I just can't see many operative teams choosing to buy it over other items. It'd also make Central announcements less important due to players having knowledge that operatives can manipulate them, and would then negate the effect of distracting crew.

The AI could immediately just deconfirm the announcements as well, making it a waste of 7 TC unless they take the highly risky option of taking out the AI first, which would still alert the crew to their presence very quickly.
