  1. You've all been pretty decent and patient, I don't think I can recall any instances of you mishandling anything when given full information. Some of you have even contacted me days later to follow up on a complaint I'd made. Top notch, right there. So this is not a complaint about any of you, but more of an attempt to bring up a discussion with you guys while you're not being bombarded with infinity billion Ahelps. I don't post here much so if this is the wrong place I apologize.

There's something that's been going on that's been troubling me. It's reduced my playtime of SS13 quite a bit, and when I do play I find myself feeling more bitter and sometimes acting out. I don't want to be like that, so I play less. I really enjoy the server, it is my favourite, moreso even than /tg/ server, which is probably where you;d expect a loony goofball clownmain to prefer to play.

The thing that's been getting to me is security, and their abuses, and just how horrible they can be to deal with. There are some truly great security players who hunt antags and keep the peace. I spend a lot of time in the brig, and for the most part, though I may throw a fit ICly, that's just rp and I know I deserve to be there and that this is how our roles interact. That's the game.

But there are.... Exceptions. People who will beat you senseless, make up crimes that aren't part of space law, or lie about crimes you commited to extend your sentence or even get you imprisoned in the first place. I have been jailed for resisting arrest as my sole crime on code green, for example. I have been straight up murdered by securtity officers multiple times. Some of whom I did provoke with pranks and the like, but while I'm a loony, and I can be somewhat irksome, I always make sure not to actually harm anyone when I'm not an antag. (Unless they try to steal from me, in which case I feel justified giving 'em a punch or two, but never anything that needs surgery or a trip to the cryocell. I'm very sensitive about my mask, my PDA, and my nanner.) I have been handcuffed and dragged into a restricted area to force a trespass arrest. I have been declared "KoS" by a security officer for trying to escape him after being abused and treated unjustly. And so on.

I'm just pretty sure that sort of behaviour is...Not acceptable for a role with so much power to entirely sod up another player's round. They have multiple one-hit stuns available to them and the ability to render anyone struck with one entirely helpless by way of handcuffs. They get to set your timers, take whatever they want out of your bag whether it is contraband or not, even if it wasn't used in a crime, and it is very easy for them to assert power over non-sec/command players with little or sometimes no justification. I used to have the patience to go through Internal Affairs when clear abuses happened, it was beneficial to the IAA player by giving them something to do. But it just never seems to yield any sort of result or justice, and then a game later the same sec officer who caved my skull in with no repurcussions can end up being HoS.

It's very frustrating. And it just feels _bad_. I'd much rather be murdered by an antag who went unchecked than have my round shat on as a NT Loyal by an NT Loyal whose job is supposed to be keeping me safe from said antag, and it's led me to sometimes think the game might be improved by just not having security. Which is probably extreme, and I am trying to be rational with myself and think about this all the way through. Antags make the round fun, and they must be checked as tension is what provides a lot of that. Security officers can also be fun, but it feels a lot worse to be adversely affected by one.

I've had a lot of truly majestic rounds on Para, TRULY MAJESTIC. The odd one that goes that poorly doesn't outwiegh them, but it just feels so _bad_.

  2. My list will be from the perspective of a guy who plays a clown 90% of the time and is always trying to get away with pranks. Sooo!

Captain: Kichiro. Cannot be tilted by traitors, too enamored with his pets. Special mention to Maya Stewart who once walked out of the bridge, caught me slipping some one over and over (he started it), and made me Clown Research Director. I was a changeling that round, sadly, but I never ended up using my powers for evil because I was having too much fun "motivating" my department. I was called the only competent person on the station in an announcement that game, great fun.

Security: This one is hard because I've been brigged by so many people, both good and bad. I'm gonna go with Connor Vulk Bruce, though, because I see him a lot and he's always fair, and he keeps character.

Blue Shield: Alice Sanders. Best aim on the station, hands down. I can recall rounds where I've slipped half of sec and made them taze each other, etc, or been the only one in the brig able to taze an escaping antag (as a prisoner! He still escaped because picking up a security officer's tazer triggers blood lust and I got the honk beaten out of me.), but she's literally never missed me.

Botany: Kiriki, I think her name is. She's an incredibly competent and very amusing vox. I've teamed up with her for pranks a couple times, and once she stole a surgery table from medical so we could fix each other up when the surgeons that round were.... Less trained than you'd expect.

Bartender, Claire Saylor, best nations round of my life.

Cargo: Clementine. She's also a fun therapist. A few times as a mime I've just walked up to her and began to gesture randomly to see how she interprets it, and it's always fun.

    A.I. L.O.V.E. AI. LOVE. CREW.

Engineer: Madilynn Drago. Doesn't seem to do any actual work, but hard to dislike or be mad at because they're always doing something nonsensical.

Librarian: Cayden Smith, who once made his own fun by reading one of the library's adult novels over the radio.

Mime: Noh Mercy, who teams up with me to play dress up in the theatre with "volunteers" we find loitering nearby.

Science: This is hard because a lot of the department is so... Cooperative! Truly they understand the importance of high crew morale, and the importance of the clown to that cause!

Janitor: no, eff this role, you guys clean up my graffiti and wear slip proof galoshes. I hope you all get honked by God himself.

Medical: God knows I end up here a lot, too.  A lot of good players work in this department. Lyra Lyricali or however its spelt is my favourite, though.

Chef: I forget their name, but an IPC player who made me a banana cream pie as Clown Research Director, they were the real MVP. (It went to good motivational use)

Clown: I forget his name, but I once saw a grey clown drive the coroner INSANE by insisting on cheering up the corpses in the morgue. Also me, I'm awesome. Best clown!
