So its my fault that a borg immediately opened fire on me as soon as I was seen and it teleported me away? I certainly wasn't hiding it, I was wearing it, and didn't get 10 steps down the hall before it happened.

I would like to throw into this conversation that I was the borg who part of this scenario.

I remember this rather well after you gave me that little recap there. I would consider myself one of the most capable security borgs on the station. People know my in game borg characters and I have often received compliments in OOC and LOOC for my borg strategies. In this case you were using a hand teleporter in a main hallway (if I remember correctly it was part of the hallway near a bridge door). You certainly were not hiding it... that is the problem here. You had an item like that and as you claim the captain gave it to you; in that case you should not be using the hand teleporter out in the open. As a borg I lack the ability to Shift-click to see what items were in your hands. The only reason I knew you had the hand teleporter is because you opened a portal. There are very few good reasons to open a portal in a primary hallway; most, if not all of them are related to impending death.

In your case seeing someone without access to a hand teleporter using a hand teleporter in the main hallway, it was of course my decision to attempt an arrest.

In the idea of your change; a Cargo tech is not the god of the disposals system. His job is simply to process what comes down. Before the use of the recycling machine it was his job to take matierials and put them into the autolaythe to reclaim the materials. Just because a laser rifle comes down the chute, that does not mean it is suddenly the property of the cargo department. When a high risk or value item is put in the disposals it should be returned to the appropriate department after announcing so over the radio.

Everybody strap in. I'm 'bout to open some airlocks

    Central Command Announcement:

Attention crew of the NSS Cyberaid: At 06:00 this morning a research station in sector 48-B was attack and destroyed. While not much is currently known about to motives of the attack, those responsible are clear to us. Over the last years attacking from the so called Syndicate have hampered the groundbreaking work of NT stations, destroyed billions of dollars worth of trade goods, and has taken the lives of countless loyal NT station crews; today marks the end of these attacks.

*A Message Arrives at Communication Consoles*

    "Dear NSS Cyberaid Command,

We are proud to call on you in this time of need. We have recently detected a medium sized stealth attack ship in the proximity of your stations sector; we are without doubt it will soon begin deploying Syndicate teams to attack local area stations. We simply can not allow this.

From this point on your station is to be converted for attack purposes. All station efforts should now work to the goal of attacking and destroying this Syndicate force. To assist in this conversion we will be deploying a cargo shuttle to your location shortly with large quantities of battle-gear and raw materials for re-construction. One hour from now (Station Time 12:15) your entire crew will be tasked with invading, securing, and destroying the Syndicate ship and crew. God speed NSS Cyberaid; make NT proud."

*The captain along with the other heads of staff begin to organize the spread of weapons and armor among the crew, the science department quickly maxes the R&D levels and using the NT supplied materials begin printing heavy weapons while robotics struggles to finish a single combat mech, and the HOS and security staff go over the plans leading them to the Syndicate ship's reactor, and how they can destroy it.*

*The Station Clock Hits 1:05. A shuttle arrives in the escape wing and the crew has 10 minutes to get on board and ready themselves*

*At 1:15 the shuttle departs the station and arrives a few short minutes later*

*The crew rushes off the shuttle into a massive space ship that looks almost identical to the NSS Cyberaid (Oh cause it is! but they dont know that...) Suddenly a maintenance door springs open and a hail of machine gun bullets fly out. The Syndicate are ready to die to defend their ship.*

At this point it is anyone's game. Who will survive? The 20+ crew members that have invaded with specially supplied gear or the 4-8 Syndicate (plus maybe a borg or two) who have been training for combat missions their entire lives.

The Time is long passed for the war between NT and the Syndicate to rage across NT stations; The time to take the fight to the Syndicate is now!

Welcome to the second installment of my quality ideas! Once again please sit back and enjoy!

    2.1) The Abyss:

The crew spawns in some sort of station that is in the middle of darkness. Only with special suits or small pod like crafts can the crew walk out of the stations airlock into the darkness safely. Disaster strikes! A hole in the outer plating of the station! Will the engineering department be able to seal the hole before all the air escapes and the crew dies of pressure related causes? Wait.... Someone is telling me that this is litterly every single round of SS13 and that I didn't even use the word "water" in this idea. Uh well.... Onto the next one!

    2.2) James Bond:

The crew spawns into the station and all appears to be in order. As the crew goes about their work someone on the station suddenly has a realization! They are not who they pretend to be! They are actually a very special agent trained to infiltrate space stations in order to preform specific and often illegal missions. Wait.... Someone is telling me that we already have this exact same mode and this is just renaming it after a movie to fill my post here.... Uhh well.... Onto the next one!

    2.3) Pacific Rim:

The crew spawns into a station with red lights and alarms everywhere! The station is divided into four sections! North, South, East, and West. In front of each crew member suddenly spawns a mech colored according to their side of the station! The battle begins! What side of the station will survive! (Ha you sh!tters! This one isnt a "copy")

    2.4) Saving Private Ryan (Jenkins):

The crew spawns inside of small metal room each box is 1 tile wide, 4 long, has 4 crew members inside. Each of the crew members has a Thompson machine gun. Suddenly the northern most tile of this room opens and the crew find themselves on the beach Z level as they exit what they now know to be landing crafts syndi lasers and BSA from the beach rain down on them! The crew is pinned behind wall girders that litter the beach. The crew thinks the end is near as the syndi continue to rain laser fire down on them when suddenly a landing craft appears! It is bigger than before! The door opens and 3 durands rush out opening fire! The General got them armor support! Will the crew secure the beach and be able to march onward to find the captured Private Jenkins? Will the Nazi I mean uhhh.. sydnis be able to stop them? We shall see!

This concludes part 2! Stay tuned for more!

  4.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls; this is the moment you have all been waiting for!

Over the last few weeks I have been throwing out into OOC a handful of quality (mostly) game modes and event ideas. I have decided to put them here in a complete list for you all to see. Please sit back, relax, end enjoy.

    Group 1: Movie Inspired:

    1.1) Indiana Jones Inspired:

The round begins. Every member of the crew spawns in a grey tide uniform with black shoes. Nothing more. They spawn in a hallway that is 6 tiles wide and goes on forever in length. An announcement is given: "You have a 30 second head start". The crew starts to run down the large hall that goes on forever. Complete chaos as each crew member pushes past each other. 30 seconds later they see on the edge of their screens a level 4 singularity in hot pursuit. The question is not if they will die; the question is who will make it the furthest.

    1.2) Power Ranger Inspired:

The round begins as normal. The crew gets an announcement that a syndicate team is on route to attack! Soon after NT replies and says that they are sending in the station last hope! THE MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS!

The syndicate are more than aware of this special NT division so they plan ahead. The Syndi bring along a small army of cult monsters to help fight! Will the RANGERS be able to hold them off?

    1.3) Star Wars Inspired:

A Human smuggler and his Vox sidekick land roughly inside the stations podbay. They quickly explain that they have secret plans and are being chased by the EMPIRE. After a short time a shuttle that looks surprisingly like the admin shuttle docks at the station. The doors are blown to bits with C-4 and a squad of syndi troopers rush in securing the hallway. From the smoke a dark figure walks out of the shuttle.... Tully steps foot into the station wielding a red E-sword. Who will escape the station with the plans?

    1.4) Armageddon Inspired:

NT radar is off the charts! They are detecting something entering the solar system. Officer Jenkin's wife is pissed that he is talking to some chick named ELE. The station springs into action as they see a huge ass meteor outside of the starboard window getting ever closer. There is only one thing to do... the miners must take the nuke to the rock, drill holes in it, arm the nuke, and save the station. Why the miners you ask? Do they actually know how to work a nuke? Why dont we send the captain or someone trained to do dangerous shit? STOP ASKING SO MANY QUESTIONS!

Alright this has been the first installment of my fantastic ideas. Please stop by soon for more! Quakes72 Out!

  5.

Lets take a little look into how I picture this.

    (Real Suggestion Below Story)

The fire alarms on the station flash with a red bar. The station-status displays fade from a smiling AI to a flashing message warning the crew of the stations newest threat. The Warden calls into his head set as he steps out of the armory with a shotgun in each hand. Officers line up in front of the desk fixing their helmet straps, tightening their armor clamps, and calibrating their HUD units. The officers are more than aware of whats happening; they know the time has come to put their lives on the line for the cooperation they serve.

Breathless minutes go by as the HOS and Warden work to ensure the terrorist on the station is caught. A tip goes out over the general station Coms; the officers move into position against the wall outside the room. One officer hit the door access button and another is quick to throw a flash bang in. Seconds turned to minutes as the fuse on that grenade counted down. BOOM. The officers one by one turn into the room weapons already raised. Two rush to the terrorist who now lays on the ground holding his ears in agony. The sound of the metal cuffs snapping around his wrist gives a little bit of relief to the officers. The mission is over and the guns get tucked safely away into a pouch of each officers security bag. The prisoner, bag draped over head, is taken to the security wing.

Once there he is strapped down to a chair and the mask over his face is removed. The HOS and the Warden look to each other talking quietly over what to do with him. The decision is made to lock him away in a cell with an implant. A specially designed tracking beacon that monitors a persons exact position is pushed into the flesh deep in his arm and he is roughly tossed on a bed to wait out his punishment.

Finally the hour comes for his release and he steps out of his cell. He walks out of the brig without looking back and the shift goes on for nearly an hour, and then the tides take a turn for the worst. A massive explosion rocks the bar. First reports show that 4 crew are dead and 6 more are injured. The warden runs to his computer and looks at a blank screen. He doesnt understand; the implant in the prisoner is almost like its not there...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I suggest here is an overall to the stations implants. Implants should be a valuable tool for the security forces on the station in terms of IC and they should allow for more interesting than the typical traitor gets locked in perma standard that we have now.

Loyalty Implant: Rumor has it that this implant can cause people to go mad. Upon implantation the holder is suddenly forced into a deep love of NT... or at least they should be (see 2.1). The implant attaches itself to the the nearest major blood line making removal near impossible. This implant can be countered in a few ways:

    1) Death: The implant may or may not use illegal methods to control its holder; therefore it self destructs in the event that someone with the implant's heart stops. Can this be used as an exploit of this implant? Only rumor knows.

    2) EMP: Because of the implants already large size an EMP shield was not feasible. The system resets itself every 10 minutes but in the event of an EMP the holder's implant is offline for 10 minutes and during that time they are at risk to being converted. That point leads to the most terrifying draw back of this implant:

2.1) The downfall: The implant works by changing chemicals in the brain via electric pulses. This implant is the child of advanced science and not magic as rumor makes it out to be. In the event that someone is already extremely loyal to a cause (such as a cult or a Rev) then they will be driven into an even deeper love for their cause. In simple terms this means that someone implanted while still loyal to something other than NT will be immune to deconversion while they have the implant.

Tracking Implant: This implant is designed for possible re-offenders. Once implanted the implant serves as a very advanced tracking system. It uses the holders pumping blood to produce the massive amount of power that it requires to broadcast and therefor will shutdown if the persons heart stops pumping even for a short time. This implant is an upgraded version of the old tracking implant; all security robots on the station are directly linked to it and with a push of a button from the wardens officer all security bots will attempt to track, located, and arrest the person holding the implant regardless of disguise (No more safety in maintenance).

Well thanks for reading! Tell me what ya think!

  6.

    Hey Guys!

Just a happy little German boy passing by here.

The Admins/Staff here are completely right with their argument that Littlbear has created a complaint in this section to complain about an in game situation. That being said please read on:

-Because of our servers mostly friendly nature I am often aware of which OOC account is linked with each in game person.

-Anyone who has ever played HOS knows that there are rounds where you are so over worked that you start to lose your mind

-If you are a clown and dont get abused you are not being a very good clown

-That last point isnt exactly true^^^

-Reading Littlbear's complaint as if it was a player complaint; I would agree the HOS was abusive there to a point where I would also ask for Admin intervention.

As any other player on this server does I look to the Admins as a person of power, authority, order, fairness, and grey-tide-hatefullness. Looking at the way the HOS conducted himself here I lose a little faith in our admin staff.

I believe that Littlbear is pushing the wrong part of the problem here. I think that the biggest offense is that an Admin handled an issue in which that same Admin was involved in. As I said before an Admin should be fair and it is near impossible to be fair when you are personally involved. (Thats why we have judges in court)

To close here I believe that Littlbear is in need of an apology from the Staff about the conduct of one specific staff member. I further believe that the ban placed on Littlbear was in order as LOOC is a dangerous path that often leads to other players overhearing things they should not know.

    Thanks for your time everyone.

  7.

    @tzo

Let us start this by saying your reply was beautiful. Really. A work of art.

My issue with what you have said is how the heads of staff have currently no option but to demote their staff. If the station has one chemist, that chemist barks at the CMO just one two many times, then has to be demoted would make for a station without a chemist. Now you could argue that the CMO would have to take over for the chemist but what happens when the medbay is busy or a virus starts up and the station has no virology team.

My point being that a head of staff should have something to threaten/punish his or her staff with other than just the idea of demotion.

  8.

Just to quickly make something clear, what happened to the clowns after this whole thing went down? Did they get arrested? Normally they'd get arrested for assault since well, it's assault.

After a long time of debating with the HOS, Warden, and IAA the clowns were not charged. We had all been playing that round following space law to the letter in the most literal way possible. We all at the beginning of the round decided via LOOC to see how that would work. Nothing the clowns did was considered illegal under the law.

I have heard many of you on this post say to charge the clowns with assault for either the spam disarming or the kidnapping. While many officer and Heads of Security will do this it is not mentioned in our space law.

People have to remember here when talking about the station law that you work for arguably the most powerful corporation ever. They have the right to charge you with EOC (enemy of the corporation, a law clearly made by someone on NT payrole), take you into security, and execute you without any worry of consequence. A company with that much power doesn't care if you think that security has too much power. A company like that would do everything they possibly could to make sure their stations run without disturbance.

  9. So lets do this then. Give the Blueshield his fancy stun revolver, a shoulder holster, and a revolver with lethal shots. If you got the job of blueshield (RP wise) you are trained to handle a shit ton of different weapons. I think the biggest issue we could run into is that someone takes out the blueshield and has a lethal weapon. But that just adds to the game. And why not trial run this for a week? We do tons of debating when this could be as easy as throwing it into the next patch and removing it in the patch after. Its not going to break the game if we give that post a new toy or two.

  10.

I was the HoS. I clear this up:

-Me and my team caught two cultists. Both were inarguably cultists, we had evidence to back it up.

-I get Holy Water pills form the chemist- The other chemist, being a cultist, switches them for fake pills

-I give both cultists the pills. They don't work. In the process, the IAA decides it's assault to feed a cultist holy water, and goes out of their way to get them released

    -Server crashes during the discussion

Everyone in sec KNEW they were cultists. I'm failing to see how not releasing them was 'meta' (it certainly wasn't from a rules standpoint; from an RP standpoint, releasing two cultists as the HoS seems pretty fucking poor RP, as well as near-guaranteed to result in the death as several players).

If you fuck up and get caught as an antag, that's on you.

Good Ol HOS buddy. I was you sec officer in the room with you and I can confirm some things

    >The one person (a girl) had her blood matched with that of a rune. As the HOS he is more than aware of how runes should work... actually anyone who has ever seen a horror movie should be more than aware. After the pill (all of sec thought it was a holy water pill) failed both the HOS and I got suspicious.

    >A short while later I ordered an assistant running around maintenance to drop his bag for a random search. In his emergency 02 box I found a tomb and the rest were stuffed with stun and other talismans. I shot him with my taser instantly and proceeded to cuff him. (He actually managed to get away because i was not dragging him... we chased and caught him 30 seconds or so later).

    >The man with the box of cult stuff was taken to the brig and sat down. We gave him 60 units of holy water pills and waited. After 5 or so minutes the HOS and I were both sure that the pills we had were faulty. He explained he didnt know what the talismans were and was just carrying the box because he found it. He seemed like he was ready for some RP so both the HOS and I took to opportunity. I searched the rest of his person as he argued that we were holding him illegally. His story of not knowing what the runes were held up until I found one talisman in his pocket. That was the proof I needed.

    >The IAA was (hopefully for RP reasons) being a pain in the ass. He told both the HOS and I that the two people in our custody had to be released. We both told the IAA more or less to fuck off and I quote (cause i thought it was funny) "IAA, when you get that Mag promotion ill consider letting this guy go. Until then go write a report on something."

    >The round was cut short by lag and a restart. Damn shame too

  11.

    DEBATE

The Cult round on 1/7/2016 was one that I have never seen anything like.

The security staff was able to keep the cult unknown to the crew for a good 25 to 30 minutes after the sec staff had discovered the first of the runes going as far as to make a code word in place of the word "cult"

A person in maintenance was searched by an officer who found an emergency box full of talismans. He was brigged and claimed he didnt know what they were. (Heavy RP shit went down)

Fake holy water was given to the HOS in an attempt to protect the cult.

Everything was batshit crazy more or less then ended in the server needed a restart because lag made it unplayable. It was a shame to end it. But here we are. Get your salt out here.

  12.

    >mistreatment of organics

Killing pets are covered in Vandalism and being a dick with bodies are covered by something already I sure hope.

I see that the pets are already covered but currently the law concerning dead bodies is a stretch. In order to charge someone for mistreating a dead person you would have to argue that the body is station property. I think we need a law covering that.

Furthermore this law was recommended to me for this post after the player witnessed the HOS kill a xeno who was locked away in a xeno containment pen and was cooperating with the xenobiologist

  13.

    Hello Everyone.

Anyone who has played more than one round in the security department will realize that our current station law has many gaps in it. The interesting aspect of the security staff on the station is how each round the way the laws are seen and upheld are just slightly different. This aspect is a result of the space law in SS13 always requiring a bit of interpretation as to what crimes fit where and makes playing a Warden or HOS much more enjoyable. I want to begin with an experience I witnessed as a ghost that I feel clearly shows a gap in our servers law then I would like to suggest a handful of laws to get this in motion.

    The Gaps

3 Days prior to this post I observed arguably the biggest gap in our stations laws:

    >Security officer walking near the escape lobby

    >Two clowns rush to officer

    >Officer disarmed continuously by one clown while the other removes his head set and cable cuffs the officer

    >Clowns now have removed the officer's belt, headset, and backpack.

    >Clowns place all of the officers items into his back pack then put the bag back on his back (THIS IS IMPORTANT).

    >Clowns drag officer into maintenance near the old bar and proceed to honk him for over 10 minutes.

    >Clowns put officer in the corner of the old bar, lube the entire room, and leave him there to un-cuff himself.

As I saw this go down I sent a message to the Admin staff online at the time describing the event. I received a rather alarming message from an Admin. He explained to me that the clowns (though on the verge of griefing) did no real harm and as a matter of fact managed to go without even breaking a single Space Law rule. They had not stolen anything from the officer because they put it all into his backpack and they had not caused him physical harm in any way.

Is that scenario what we want our security staff to be forced to deal with? I think not

Over the course of the last few weeks I have been collecting ideas and opinions on new laws. All persons who mentioned laws will remain anonymous for this post. Please note not all are mine (though I wish i could take credit for some of the great ideas)

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

    Disrupting Station Work Environment

(Law would fit into both minor and medium and then anything larger is sabotage)

Description: Any action deemed to have a significant hampering effect on station productivity.

Example (minor): A Robotic Engineer refusing to share the robotics lab with the second Robotic Engineer

Example (medium): An Engineer welding the doors leading to the bar closed (or the example with the officer above).

Why?: This law will help security punish those crew who are causing problems around the station without having to wait for something large enough to consider sabotage (will also eliminate the security officer incident). These two laws are slightly less specific so that they may be used to cover a wider array of issues.

    Insubordination

(Law would fit into the minor crime section)

Description: Directly disobeying an order given by a valid commanding officer.

Example: Captain orders that the CE returns from the engineering station to help with the needs of the main station and the CE refuses to return.

Why?: This law will give the commanding staff a bit more of an ability to control the other members of their department and will allow heads of staff to punish staff members who fail to comply without going as far as a demotion.

    Insubordination With Consequence

(This law fits into the medium section)

Description: Directly disobeying an order given by a valid commanding officer which results in harm to the crew or station.

Example: Officer 1 is ordered by the HOS to return his laser to the armory. The officer does not do so, is disarmed, has the laser stolen, and then the laser is used to kill the CMO.

Why?: This law serves to punish crew more severely than normal Insubordination and helps to encourage crew to listen to the orders of their command staff.

    Abuse of Post

    (A medium law)

Description: Using the powers or tools of one's job in a malicious way.

Example: The HOP gives himself an all access ID card so that he may act as a security officer.

Example 2: The Genetics lab gives out powers to random crew members without permission.

Example 3: A cargo bay worker orders crates of weapons, gloves, and armor. Note: Currently "theft" covers this cargo issue but it should be changed so that this new law covers it.

Why?: Security will now be able to enforce a moderate level of responsibility among the crew. This will help punish those who use their jobs in ways that they should not.

    Mistreatment Of Organics

(a low [or maybe medium, not too sure] crime)

Description: Damage or destruction of any non-malicious lifeforms.

Example: The security staff kills Xenos that are locked inside the Xeno-bio lab.

Example 2: Someone kills one of the many station pets without good reason.

Example 3: Someone mistreats a dead body such as a Doctor leaving it in the hallway, a Robotic Engineer leaving it on the floor of the Robotics lab for an extended period of time, or a Doctor cutting a body apart to use things like its limbs without permission.

Why?: This law helps to ensure the safety of everyone's favorite station pets and ensures that the bodies of dead crew members are properly taken care of.

  14.

Name of Event: NT Borging Experiment

One Sentence Description: A small NT funded think tank looks to investigate the possibility of running a station with solely Cyborg units; unfortunately some of the crew on the station selected to test this new idea are not so fond of having their brains removed

    Map Changes: No

    Code Changes: No

Population: Large size. The more the merrier.

    Full Description of Event:

Lore- A private think tank funded solely by NT is tasked with maximizing NT station profit. Their latest idea makes use of NT's advanced cybernetic units. The think tank known as "Ideas-R-Us" has discovered that NT spends more than one hundred million credits a year to provide station crews with food, living quarters, medical care, and compensation for damages to stations. The think tank determined that the most reasonable solution to this problem is to eliminate the crew almost entirely. After publishing the results to the NT financial department, NT was quick to move the idea into a testing phase. The NSS Cyberiad was selected as an ideal station to conduct opening trials.

    How it works-

-The round begins with an AI unit and a slightly larger than normal group of cyborgs (these starters must be capable and most likely hand picked by the admins).

-3 or more (based on population at the time) players will be selected as traitors with an objective ordering them to survive the trial (Not be borged) and to manage to escape the station at the end of the round (these traitors are in place so that the admins may make the round more difficult for the players if the borging is going too easily)

-Very important to the progression of the game is that the captain and the robotics department have been briefed on the plan prior to the start of the test and have agreed to fully cooperate in exchange for them remaining in their bodies.

-Admins prior to the round start will have to move the borg control computer to the AI core chamber, AI and borg upload computers must be deleted, borg control computer circuits must be deleted, and AI laws must be changed to simply "Ensure that NT policies are followed"

-10 minutes into the round an announcement will be made from CC saying that the family of anyone who gets bored today will receive a 500 thousand credit check.

-A first wave of crew will head to the robotics room to comply and will become the first wave of new borgs.

-30 minutes into the round another announcement will be made from CC saying that now all crew must be borged as part of a new NT policy.

-Some crew will head to robotics to form a second wave of borgs while others will refuse.

-The crew that refuses must be tracked down by the borgs and brought to the robotics lab for processing.

-The refusing crew will use the 3 or more traitors on station to their advantage to receive gear to fight back with

-The round continues until the shuttle comes the AI is killed and all borgs are destroyed.

    Victory Conditions:

Shuttle leaves with still living crew: Crew Major Victory

All crew borged: AI Major Victory

AI killed but borgs manage to finish the crew off: Draw

    Special Conditions:

-Due to galactic law crew can not be killed by the borgs. The borging process must be done in the robotics lab.

-The traitor may not use his or her PDA until the forced borging announcement is made.

-Borgs failing to listen to orders are subject to be destoryed by the AI via the control computer in the core.

    Hello all!

Most of you know me from in round somewhere as Jacob Ellis or one of my many AI units, but I am rarely online with the website here. Today unfortunately it is the disappointing job of NT Rep that brings me this direction. Lets get started:

A Bit of an Issue Many Can Relate To

A few weeks back I spent the 30 Karma and picked up the NT Rep job. It was a dream job for a player like myself who loved to make sure the station was in order and not being overrun by Antags or corrupted heads of staff. For the first few rounds the job was exactly how I thought it was going to be (It took me 3 rounds to realize what the cane did). The job was wonderful and I really felt like I was doing some good for the station. Then things took a turn for the worse. Let me list off some of my more recent issues

1): Writing a long and detailed message to CC informing them of the chaos or issue only to receive the "automated NT encourages a creative work place: Try to figure it out on your own" message.

-After paying 30 Karma for a job that is described on the wiki as an "IC- Moderator" I would hope that my hard work and time spent conducting a report would entitle me to more than a simple default reply message.

2): Everyone seems to have a different idea as to what the NT Rep job entitles even though the wiki appears to be both clear and up to date.

-Today I decided to take one round as an NT Rep and it turned out to be a total disaster. It began when an un-nammed admin criticized a CC fax for 2 simple spelling errors (most of you know I am a German native and while I have a good grasp on English it is not always perfect). Following the fax I contacted the admin via A-Help and we sorted out the issue (very mature and professional work on his part), but we continued our chat to talk about his view on the NT Rep position. Things brought up included that the NT rep is powerless against a crocked head of staff unless all other heads of staff agree (I.E. captain is a true condom and only the HOS likes the captain equals me having no right to fax CC about the issue).

3): A job that costs 30 Karma and according to its description is valued by the staff at CC recieves none of its deserved respect form CC.

    - Often times I am find my self writing general status reports at 30 minute intervals but occasionally I am forced to write a report about a very specific crew member (I.E. Captain, HOS, Sec Officer, or Doctor). In such cases I feel responsible for conducting a proper investigation and ensuring that only correct facts are sent to NT (The wiki says that some reports may result is the accused receiving a ban or other punishment, and I take that as a heavy responsibility as I should). In almost all cases the CC fax states something about warning them and waiting until they make another mistake. Is another mistake really needed when the HOS has already made six serious mistakes that are all detailed in the original report? I think not.

Over all I do think the NT Rep job is a good addition to the game but I feel that it needs to be looked at differently by the Admins and by the player base alike. It is a job that RP wise would have been hard to acquire and Karma wise a moderate purchase, and should be respected accordingly.

  16.

    Hello everyone.

Many of you know me from the server, often playing the AI (a very patriotic one) and other station roles. But like all of you I have a life outside of the station and that is what I would like to talk about.

In Germany I am the Hosting director for AFS international and the assistant hosting director in Switzerland. Recently a very kind young man has run into a most terrible situation. As a result of a series of events that he could not control a verdict has been reached to terminate his exchange program, a long time dream of his. Following a long series of meetings in which I voiced my disagreement to his termination verdict the decision was made to allow a petition to be created (Petitions are accepted as a clause from a very very old AFS rule).

While i realize SS13 is not the best place for getting help I do understand that many of you can see when something is not right. Your chance to help him is here.

Please read about his story here: https://www.change.org/p/afs-intercultu ... witzerland

    Thank you everyone.
