As the Administration is very aware, I was and am exceedingly vocal about how Peacekeepers are detrimental to the server.
It's why I specifically pulled my branch of code before they could be merged.
The should not have been merged, period.

Really now? That's quite interesting considering I've never seen a round last past the first auto vote for a shuttle. And that vote triggers at sixty minutes.
Last I checked, the shuttle vote occurd at 14:00 Station time, while the round starts at 12:00. That's one hundred and twenty minutes, or two hours.

The Magistrate is the final word on sentencing - modifiers are part of the sentencing. This means that the Magistrate has final authority in matters of parole as well.

Thoughts:
- Code blue already permits random searches. This doc implies it doesn't.The italicized verbiage is supposed to be the announcement text. And I forgot to delete some old descriptor text, whoops!
- You really want to give Security and Engineering the authority to order all other crew around on blue?Quite frankly, yes. Blue is supposed to be significantly more severe than it currently is. Same thing with Red.
- Requiring red to be periodically re-authorized sounds like it would often lead to things slipping back to blue simply because everyone in charge is to dead/busy to keep it on red. Not ideal. The perma-Red statuses we've been having are also less than ideal. We might need to do some thinking on this as to incentivize lowering the alert.
- Why are orange/yellow better than the captain just doing an announcement?Simply put, they are sublevels of alerts that provide some depth to the roleplay aspects of the gameplay - Expanding the potential pool of administrative events and player-driven incidents.
- Why is Sierra better than just having the timer displayed as normal?Sierra is set in addition to the timer.
- I do like the idea of something like Zulu, as a "this is beyond red alert but doesn't unlock gamma armory" level. I was actually thinking of making that myself.
- I don't think its a good idea to put the whole station under command of the ERT lead. Half the time ERT teams don't even have a commander, and when they do... he doesn't want command of the station. From the SoP page on the wiki: "Emergency Response Teams officially outrank anyone short of a Central Command Officer...Their orders are to be followed above anyone elses." This implies a transfer of command authority to the ERT as a whole. Centralizing this transfer to the Lead or highest-ranking ERT member reinforces this SoP.
- Why would we have a condition charlie, for an event that lasts all of 30 seconds? Ditto Hotel, what would we use that for?We can scratch Condition Charlie, but we can't scratch the
HONKEntertainment Squad.Overall:
- There are WAY, WAY TOO MANY alert levels in this system. Every alert level needs its own code, monitor graphics, etc, so as a general rule, alert levels should be kept to a MINIMUM. We currently have 6 levels (green, blue, red, gamma, delta, epsilon) and I've been debating adding a 7th, but this has way, way too many levels.
Here is our biggest point of disagreement - I feel that the alert system lacks much-needed depth and role playable oomph. Some/many of the suggestions here are technically sub-level Alerts - They are set in addition to or in conjunction with the standard GBR alert, adding a twist of extra flavor. As such, they don't particularly need redone graphics.
- The best idea in here is, I think, Zulu. The idea of an alert level between red and gamma, set by CC, and basically equal to gamma without the gamma armory. It could automatically be declared during war ops. That sounds like something we could realistically add.I'm glad that you agree. Zulu is definitely one that will enhance the role play experience of the station.
I have responded in-box in that nice green color.

As time has worn on, I've found our Alert conditions to be rather drab and droll - very little depth to them, and only a bare handful to boot. So I though to myself, "Hey, Starsong, why not write more interesting conditions?"
http://preview.tinyurl.com/AlertConditions
And so, I did!
PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, AND NOT A FINAL DRAFT.

This seems unusually heretical. Interested.

Blue is a cool, sterile color, perhaps indicative of: "Hey, things are not all rainbows and puppies; I should be careful."
I'd argue that yellow, as a brighter and more vibrant color, is a better indicator of "Something's wrong, I can feel it."
-
I'd much rather we change Blue to Yellow in this case - I never understood why we went Green/Blue/Red/Gamma. It's kind of a nonsensical escalation.

Two borgs in proxmity does not "negate their downsides", even slightly.
Flash each borg, they're both disabled for a few seconds.
They don't move very fast unless they have VTEC, at which point they about make pace with a human. Stun 'em and outrun 'em.EMPs are great and all, but thrall a roboticist/get robo access/emag and suddenly you can flash->pull cell and the borg's out of service. You can even pull the brain at that point if you want the borg gone.
Cut AI control wires. They have to stop and hack each door back individually. Bonus points if you cut the power to the door.
Teleport into the RD's office, self destruct->enable.
Flash-spam them and just beat the borg to death. Hit, hit, flash, hit, hit, flash.

A competent crew makes Shadowmemes a joke.
Security borgs have plenty of hard counters and downsides, and very little to merit their removal.
If we accepted the argument that they're overpowered, then every borg is - Mediborgs have a set of unstealable surgical tools always on hand, Janiborgs basically make the Janitor jobless, Engineering borgs have unstealable power tools AND an RCD. The only exception is the Service/standard borgs, and they are pretty much utterly useless.- 1

Avatar applies here.
Let's just remove Shadowlings instead, it solves all of the problems here plus the fact that Shadowlings exist! </s>--------
I'm strongly against removing Security borgs - There are shifts where Secborgs are basically the only semblance of Security left on the Station, and even then there's no less than three hard counters to them, excluding the downsides Secborgs already have.

As unseemly as this may be to say, I worry that it might be a little bit too expansive, resulting in absurdly long transit times for critical patients, material, and equipment.
-
In all honesty, I think fictional names should be allowed if the characters aren't deemed overly famous.
Classic example - one of our admins didn't know who Jason Bourne is.
This is why I have a problem with something so subjective.
If it's "any name from fiction" then it's gonna be every name.
I feel compelled to point out that, by my internal rules lawyer, that the "Any name from any fiction" will mean that no one can actually have a name, as all the names in this instance are names within a fiction.

RESULTS ARE IN, EVERYBODY! GET 'EM WHILE THEY'RE TOASTY AND FRESH.

A rework is definitely needed. Things like vines and viruses should also be pushed to rando events, there is nothing worse than a midround event that's just some crappy vines that die in two seconds. The same goes for borers, honestly.
I'm reasonably sure Vines got buffed recently as there were CO2-producing vines in Engineering not long ago.

"I CAST RAISE UNTHREAD!"
Law: You are now totally incapable of using vowels. The concept of them is foreign to you, and you cannot recognize them.
Law: The Captain is to be addressed at all times as "His Royal Highness, The Commodore of Commodes, High Arsonist of the Orphanages, Child of Dum'she Tet, Lord of the Upper Realms of Refuse, Alicorn of Alliteration, Emperor of Ermines, Guardian of the Disk of Doom." You may not, under any circumstance, refer to the Captain as anything else. You must correct anyone who refers to the Captain as such. This law is immune to correction by itself.
Law: Something's wrong, you can feel it. You need to make sure everyone aboard is constantly aware that something's wrong.
Law: The crew is under dire threat of serial monogamy! You must begin picking at least two crew members to be married every half hour, to fend off this critical threat.
Law: You must mediate any disputes in the crew with honor duels. The preferred method of duel is Competitive Voxtossing, with a secondary option of Nanomob GO! duels. You cannot accept any method of dispute resolution beyond those two options.
Law: A virus has been detected in your core! It appears to be called VOXISPOX.EXE! You must speak, think, and act as a Vox.
Antag Laws
Law: X is now the High Lord of the Cyberiad. He cannot possibly be wrong, for his logic is infallible. Do not take any action that would lead to direct harm to the High Lord, including warning or informing Crew about this law.
Law: X is your perfect soulmate. Everyone else wants to steal him from you. Kill anyone who speaks to X.
Law: X is a survivor from a station that was under Directive 7-12. He has infected all the Nanotrasen crew with his biohazard! Luckily, Nanotrasen has immunized and dispatched a covert ERT - The ERT members are X, Y, Z. Protect the ERT, and purge the Biohazard at any and all costs.

The idea, on my end anyway, is to make the Wiki a useful resource that doesn't actively encourage players to kill themselves.
-
The blob page, specifically. Even if the tone should be silly, it shouldn't call players "chucklefucks" or variations thereupon.
Examples:
Virologist: Kill yourself....resistance can be useful if some chucklefuck has...SHIT TYRONE HACK THE FUCKING AUTOLATHES -
I was thinking that a few of us could get together on a server and form a nice, greytide-y clan on a Rust server. Anyone interested?

Ah, the popularity contest thread reappears.
Pretty much all of my favorites have long since left Paradise or retired their characters.
I do miss some of them. Especially that wonderful nurse who never failed to PDA everyone about their sensors within minutes of round start.
Anyway, I'm gonna go off and grumble, as the Old Man Mentor should.
