Any hero that is Runtime must get the ability to run at high speed and smash into things like using a fire extinguisher on an office chair.

Sounds like a nightmare for security, janitorial services, and engineers.

It's not like the superheroes are supposed to be anything but cheesy oneliner spouting clowns with herp derp gear. It's like having a group of LARP nerds running around.

I would find it hilarious to see a catman scream "IT'S RUN-TIME!" and smash to a wall with the speed that can outrun bullets.

That was my exact point, lol. Of course, it would be tragic if he ran into a window leading to space  .

Gave up on my old idea, couldn't think of what else to put in a fight-club reference. soo...

This is pretty rough, did this in a few minutes of jotting down an idea.

Some clarification- no clown will not be buff. no singulaRARITY is not going to be in final version. I'll keep playing around with ideas. not really sure what to really fit in other than clown being chased by the entire security force. I might just do a environmental speed paint without much action instead.

I am against using specific recognizable player characters in this contest. This isn't a popularity contest, and I don't want to give the impression that we favor established players.

It's why I wanted descriptions without uniquely identifiable features. I'm seeking flair rather than "Yeah this is obviously blah blah". Using completely generics may not be ideal, which is why I felt using randoms would also be an appropriate alternative.

I was originally actually wanted to put in a few people I knew, but realized that a innocent call out could also result in making the individual popular/infamous and at that rate, ruin the game for those individuals. It's also why I decided that I would make an actual entry, then have one that I wanted to make with people i had fun playing with as a separate non-entry-just-for-fun piece, best of both worlds.

    Race: Atmosian

    What it looks like:

    Something inside an atmos hardsuit.

Sorry if I didn't clarify enough. I meant characters on the station of the available playable races in order to represent the spirit/nature of paradise station. I will otherwise just draw "generics" or whatever comes out of random character generation.

  5. I humbly request some ideas for the different races we see in Paradise station. If there are particularly noteworthy people I would like their descriptions, but I will try to avoid anything that would make them uniquely identifiable. (Which means I will probably have to make a version with admins in it and one without to prevent biases and more hate-mongering toward certain admin) My main reason for this is I feel the people we play with on this station are as much of a reason to play as the station itself.

  6.

Just posting random fan art, paradise happenings inspired stuffs here.

Right now I'm in the mood to make some silly movie posters relating to people on this station or particularly odd shifts. Please do note, when and what I draw relating to this will be completely at whim. I will not take any requests for now.

This is a little gag about my character who claims to have comprehensive clone insurance. He dies often, and may have some strange BRAIN PROBLEMS, but he's still fun as hell to play. This was done pretty quickly, then abandoned, and now finally polished up a bit, I still may still tweak it later.

Renault will be Fire Fox, a fire-based archetype. His opponent will be Fish Sticks, a carp, ice-based archetype. Those are 5 and 6, and we already have sprites for them.

Haha, Fish snacks, I love it. What about Time Runner, a hero that basicly moves like he's always on space cola / coffee, but not as fast as say.. space weed.

cappuccino the crab, who is.. a crab?

  8.

We already have a carp costume in code.

So what about the idea of making station pet related heroes/villians? Runtime, renault, poly, and maybe coffee? Would clucky be considered a pet? There's already a chicken suit (the power to lay eggs!).

I got imgur to accept the DMI's it turns out it won't find them by default but it doesn't stop you from dragging them in.. Odd..

Let's see someone suggested a Fire archetype called "Firefox" I sorta like sticking to the animal theme since owlman and the griffin look so good.

I don't know what we could have for an ice/cold archetype...the Paingwin?

Sorry about all the posts having way too much fun with this:

No, I am not saying dumb down the game and make it a hugbox! Space should be pretty dammned leathal but having it so that you get exposed to a vacuum for half a second kill you utterly dead five minutes later is not fun or good game design! Space should be cold! Damned cold! Cold enough that hull breached rooms freeze and the floor turns to ice! But there should still be that little bit of being able to escape! You want hardcore space? Why the hell not give it explosive decompression and make anyone caught in that get torn apart! That would be realistic!

I also hate dumbed down games but sometimes making shit harder or more complex for the sake of it is just not good game design!

I would like to mention that five minutes is enough time for a proper med staff cart you off and to fix you up. I think you just NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY INJURED. The main problem I see when I'm in med is that people come in injured and we have no clue what's going on. If they knew they had a ruptured lung, we would be able to save them, easily.

Even though we have those fancy-pants body scanner, it saves precious time to just slap a person on the table and fix their internal damage.

  11. I think if you're doing those jobs you should be wearing some form of mask anyway. Forensic teams (that includes the detective) wear hairnets and face masks to avoid contamination of the scene. Coroners also wear face masks to prevent the spread of disease. Maybe said classes should start out with basic forensic/ corpse handling gear.

  12. I think the only real "balance" there needs to be is that you're aware your lungs have exploded into a useless sack of discombobulated membranes. Something like "YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR CHEST IS ON FIRE" or "YOU WHEEZE FOR AIR BUT RECEIVE NOTHING". I'm thinking something in a dashing tone of red and as large as the honk mech's HONK should suffice.

  13. Sure, you can argue that this isn't a super hard core role-play station, but it's also not goon station. The rules are to preserve the fun-for-all rather than fun-for-one (or few). Part of the enjoyment of being a traitor antag is finding out how you can do something and get away with it. You're an assassin, not nuke ops. Different antags different rules. Traitors play a role on the station roleplay-wise, they need to contribute to the roleplay without becoming completely obvious. You're not supposed to be playing for only your own enjoyment, you're supposed to contribute to the enjoyment of the other players. Being able to blow up the station willy nilly and killing random bystanders starts to sound like a get-out-jail-grief-card.

Well, in short, overwatching alone a bunch of "mature adults" makes you feel like a kindergarten teacher, and Xilia is not a kindergarten teacher. Adminship can be very stressful at times, and when stressed is easy to lose tact, specially when late at night. This is one of those cases, children scream and spam capslock ahelps to the only admin online at the time, admin tries to handle all what he can, gets frustrated, gets stressed, and well, you know the rest.

I give you my apologies in the name of the server's staff for this incident, but it's a very rare case, and hopefully will not happen again. Thank you for your understanding.

    Regards,

    supposedly a seniormin.

That is understood, and the apology from both of you are very appreciated. However, my worry is, even though it was a high pressure situation, the administrative decision to murder the rule violators and screw all the rest is simply put unacceptable on a server that's advertised as "light roleplay". Additionally, I feel that the more tactful response of simply gibbing the party in question or crabbing them (I mean at least I get a crab dinner right?) would have been easier, quicker, and far less stressful than to have geared up for a pod wide exterminatus. Which brings me to the point.. Having to gear up takes a bit of thought, there was intent there: to be as overpowered, unkillable, and look as flashy as possible.

The underlining fact is, there should never be innocent bystanders caught in the wake of administrative fire. Some amount of patience and consideration should have been exhibited. If there was time to gear up, there was time to plan a less hostile course of action. The time it took to kill myself (a hard to kill machine person), a person in power-armor, and I'm guessing the perpetrator, less stressful actions could have been taken. I know what happened has happened, but there always time for hindsight and recovering from our mistakes. All this could have been EASILY prevented. The most offensive part of it was the EFFORT required to create this extremely negative experience.

    That being said:

Again, thank you both for the apologies. Though I will not dream of leaving the station; I adore your rather "colorful" regular crew members (well the not-so-griefy ones at least), and the usual admin hijinks in OOC are worth a laugh. This incident, unfortunately , has put me off SS13 as a whole, and I may need to find another form of entertainment for a while. Maybe it was just time for a break?
