  1. Oh, so this is why spam opening and closing a cheap lighter will stack burn damage so quickly my lungs collapse. Yeah then, damage caps sound pretty good

On TG a 357. round will deal 60 DMG no matter where you hit them, it's just that if you shoot someone in their leg it caps out and disables it or decapitates that limb(if the weapon is sharp). You're not able to kill someone by shooting their leg unless you inflict a wound and cause them to bleed out.

Aiming for the head or chest on TG allows you to stack someone with enough damage to kill them, the downside being that's where you're most likely to be wearing armour.

None of this matters on Paradise because our limbs have no damage cap so you're free to shoot someone in their pinky toe 100 times to kill them.

There are obvious counters to each type of armour, a slow down or any other type of drawback would be unnecessary.

Honestly, normal armour is pretty useless right now since you can target any limb to negate almost all of it. What we should do is a damage cap on each limb to force people to actually aim for the head/chest.

I like that idea  but think changing body parts mid fight to sound like a hassle.

right ok, presume i am insane for suggesting this, but...

what if everything had a weight, everything larger than a pen. except for unprotective clothing, or something like that... and there were limits to how much a person could carry.
carry capacity is only limited by how large your bag is. i can fit like 5 piano synths in my bag, which makes me incredibly strong (dont heck with me), but like, why?

species could have different weight capacity, going over your carry capacity will slow you down until you cannot pick up anymore. remove duffel slowdown all together - an empty but larger bag shouldnt slow you down more than a full satchel (which doesnt slow you down at all).

stuff like riot armours would be quite heavy (as they should be, considering they are lumps of metal and kevlar and magical bluespace protection), and effectively restrict you from carrying too many items, especially not in a backpack, if you want to walk at normal speeds. guns would also be rather heavy, cos guns arent just cheap plastic toys, they are military hardware, steel is not light.

yea that was a rather psychotic suggestion but its a complicated solution to a simple problem.

Eh, I feel like people would argue over weight capacities and it would be more complicated then needed. That, and if species can carry different amounts, it encourages people to play a specific race for powergame reasons.

adding to the main conversation, while their should be some downsides, I feel like if you put a speed nerf, a lot of people won’t even think of using it, due to how being slow can easily lose you most fights, yo

At the urging of a friend, I first tried SS13 over 11 years ago, back when Goon was king and two years before Paradise existed. I don't remember much about the time except:

    1. The lag was fucking awful, and a framerate in the teens (or lower!) was commonplace
    2. The community was much rougher around the edges, probably due to all of us being immature teens

I couldn't stomach the sluggish gameplay and awful controls (much worse than modern hotkey mode, for sure), so I disappointed my friend by dropping the game.

As years went by, I'd occasionally see Youtube videos of people playing SS13 and having great fun, and pop back in, only to become alienated again. Most times, I'd pop into whatever server was at the top of the browser, fumble about, punch myself, break light fixtures with a toolbox, then quit out of boredom. It was only around 2019 that something finally clicked, and I was able to play out full rounds without losing interest. I mostly played on Fulp for 2019 and a chunk of 2020 before migrating to Paradise, which has been my main server ever since.

11 years?!? You may be one of the oldest players here, I bow to thee majesty

  5. I’m essentially a baby. I only started playing in 2021, in the later half of the year. I think I have a few hundred years back of play time. Iv spoken to a lot of older players, made a few friends, even of some of the older players

  6. Yes, it’s very 😢 you had to remember me, smh. Jokes aside, I will be back on para on the 25th, though I probably will only play starting the 26th. Speaking of which, I should submit some of my amazing para screenshots, like malo (RD)telling mining to stop ordering goods mid shift because I (roboticist) painted the room in gold. And how that ended In a plasma fire

before and after of my first-ever art project- sketching and shading over my heroforge of xion, and then adding bloodwork from scratch (bullet wounds, burn scars, slash wounds, and a stab wound)
yes, part of her ear is missing

the majority of this was pretty unsatisfactory but it was a good learning experience; i'm happy with how the wound and scar effects turned out

PS: (again, sorry for posting here waveman pls no yell)

  8. I personally am against the detective having a revolver. I can’t think of a good reason for one honestly. They already have a self defense weapon in the form of a tele baton, and I believe they (might) have a flash? While I guess it fits the noire look, it doesn’t make much sense. If the detective *really* needs a self defense weapon, why not go down the route of IAA and give them a flash and laser pointer. Arguably, the detective has a higher chance of getting attacked while scanning things then IAA doing inspections, so i understand why someone would argue that they should have the IAA defense set, but I’m that case, why not just a disabler? Giving a role which isn’t actually an officer a round start lethal? It feels odd
