A mob spawner is a creature or job accessible by Ghosts. They are often referred to as "ghost roles" because only round observers can use them. These roles vary in power and complexity, ranging from roleplaying as a station Pet to joining a tribe of angry lizardmen. They exist to give observers something to do in the case where the round is not interesting enough to watch. Often, the more powerful spawners are isolated from the station and on very small occasion actually interact with the crew.
How to use Mob Spawners
As long as you are still able to enter the round, you will be able to use the mob spawners. Do keep in mind, if you die during the round and are still revivable, you will no longer be cloneable or revivable if you choose a ghost role. You can locate the menu for mob spawners by clicking the "Ghost" tab while you are observing the round. There you will see two buttons, they are called Mob Spawners and Respawn as NPC. Both will allow you to spawn in as mobs but offer different options.
Mob Spawners
Using a Mob Spawner will allow you to spawn in to various other roles. These often come in the form of intelligent life marooned in Lavaland or deep space. Whatever the role is, you are expected to follow their objectives and RP the character. Mob Spawners are not just an excuse to inject yourself back into station matters or metagame against other crew members. This will all be outlined in the mob spawner role description and detailed to you when you spawn in as a mob. Some mob spawners only spawn on chance at the beginning of a round, that means that you can roll either just none or most of them during a round.
Lavaland
Name | Description |
Ash Walker |
Ash Walkers are the tribal natives of Lavaland. These Unathi-esque lizard people are fiercely protective of their land, and use very primitive technology and do not require internals. They cannot speak Galactic Common. They can also run at heightened speeds. For a guide see Ash Walker |
---|---|
Translocated Veterinarian |
An animal doctor teleported to Lavaland by a bluespace anomaly. They are equipped with standard medical supplies. This is hardmode if you want to try to challenge yourself to survive on lavaland. |
Terrarium Diona |
A Diona that has awoken after years of slumber in a preserved terrarium planted by someone or something a long long time ago. They are tasked with spreading life wherever they go. Have access to a fully stocked upgraded hydroponics/botany lab so it's a great opportunity to learn botany. |
Beach Dome Denizens |
Spawn as a bartender, lifeguard, or regular beach bum in a beach dome. Good spawner if you want to RP or practice making drinks in the bar. |
Lavaland Hermit |
An ill-equipped miner with basic farming items. Essentially hardmode for surviving in lavaland if you're bored. |
Free Golems |
Spawn on the Golem ship. Good way to practice mining and RND. Additionally, you can travel to space in the ship where you can explore/build. |
Space
Name | Description |
Ancient Cryosleep Casket File:ThetaStationScientist.png |
Spawn as one of four survivors on a derelict NanoTransen space station. Essentially a giant escape room, you'll need to use your wits (and laser guns) to construct a way to escape the station before your power, food, or oxygen runs out. |
---|---|
Syndicate Researcher |
Spawn as a Syndicate Researcher on a space station hidden in an asteroid. Perform dastardly experiments, or just roll blunts and mix cocktails. As the base contains the equipment for nearly every on-station job, it's a perfect place to learn new skills. The base also contains a camera console connected to the Cyberiad, and a fax machine connected to Syndicate HQ. |
Other
Name | Description |
Swarmer |
Spawn as a small robot, with the objective of deconstructing any and all non-organic objects on the station to further grow your numbers. You are an antagonist. |
---|---|
Golem |
Spawn in as a golem that is in permanent servitude to its creator. These are not to be confused with free golems, regular golems are crew member created golems that are given objectives by their creator. This means that they can be set out to do good but also be ordered to commit heinous crimes. If you spawn in as a golem you are expected to follow the rulings of your creator to the end. |
NPC Spawners
Respawning as an NPC will allow you to become one of the Stations pets or another simple mob such as a crab, corgi, or other various pets on station. For most cases, NPCs cannot speak galactic common and the only way you will be able to communicate is through emotes. Additionally, most NPCs cannot attack and instead can only nuzzle objects/mobs. Most NPCs are available every round.
Name | Description |
Station Pet |
Spawn in as one of the Cyberiad's beloved station Pets. This is a blank check to completely roleplay! |
---|---|
Misc Simple Mobs |
Spawn in as non-agressive, simple mob anywhere in the game. This includes ruins and on station. There is nothing special about these NPCs, you can move around and emote. That's about it. |
