" I know that I hanged on a windy tree
nine long nights
wounded with a spear, dedicated to Odin,
myself to myself,
on that tree of which no man knows
from where its roots run."

Yggdrasil v2.0e is a qualified engineer and atmospheric technician. Advanced atmospherics certification testing is underway; while unnecessary to advance his career, Yggdrasil wishes to learn more about thermo-electric generators and supermatter engines.

Yggdrasil v2.0e suffers from a condition dubbed 'Chronic Posibrain Degradation' by specialist roboticists. His exposure to various forms of radiation, although dampened by the metal within his chassis, has damaged exterior portions of his posibrain. Current theory states that this damage forces Yggdrasil to 'think harder' about certain tasks, which generates heat within his posibrain, which damages it further. The only visible symptom of this 'disease' is dimming or shutdown of Yggdrasil's right eye, usually associated with less coherency in speech or, in rare cases, loss of emotion entirely for a few minutes as portions of his posibrain undergo a soft reboot. He has reported, in confidence, some ability to contr#$!-

(The medical record cuts short, and the terminal flickers before shutting down and loading into the main menu once again.)

"The degradation of the posibrain is a massive issue that [...] requires more attention. Akin to cancer and dementia in organic patients, this disease consumes the patient slowly, with expensive, barely-researched treatments only temporarily halting the symptoms. Without active treatment.." The speaker sighs. "..I shudder to imagine what lengths an affected machine would go to, with the price of treatment and the hint of madness from the disease combined.." - Dr. ███, during an interplanetary robotics summit.

ADDENDUM ONE: AFFILIATION WITH HALCYON DYNAMICS

(OOC Note: This data is harder to find, but if a character knows where to look - or is affiliated with Halcyon Dynamics themselves - it's trivial.)

Interview Log:

Spoiler

(There's a 'clunk' as the tape recorder comes to life.)

Specialist ████: There we go. Let's start again, shall we? Good morning, Yggdrasil.

Yggdrasil: Good morning, ████.

S: Let's see, let's see.. (Papers rustle in the background.) You searched for our company, Yggdrasil. What for?

Y: You know what for.

S: Posterity's sake; say it for the recording.

Y: Fine. C-Chronic posibrain degradation, as diagnosed by-

S: Can you repeat that? You had a weird glitch there, sounded like you stuttered.

Y: Did I?

S: Yeah.

(There's a pause for a moment.)

Y: Okay. I searched for Halcyon Dynamics because of my chronic posibrain deg-degradation.

S: You stuttered- ah, whatever, nobody's going to listen to the tape anyways.

(Yggdrasil beeps.)

S: Next question. You work for Nanotrasen, right? Ah.. (Papers rustle, again.) ..as an engineer, primarily?

Y: Yes, that's correct.

S: Halcyon doesn't need engineers. We've got plenty already; and besides, the cost of that treatment's more than an engineer's pay. How do you plan on affording the treatment?

Y: Halcyon doesn't have any other positions? I'm trusted aboard NT stations, after all..

(There's a pause for a moment, then the recording ends.)
