Have been reading up on SS13 for about half a week, and getting increasingly curious what it would be like to actually play. I cherry-picked Paradise Station out of the list on the merit of its rules, laws and SOP, because of its clear roots in a roleplaying metagame type community and, quite frankly, am a bit nervous about fitting in. It's always a bit hit or miss, whether you get a warm welcome or an elitist sneer when you try to join a longstanding community as a complete outsider, but here's to hoping for positivity! A bit about myself: I'm Dutch, age 33, and my usual name is Yuno, based on the Roman goddess Iuno (or Hera for the Greek version), not the anime character. (The release of Mirai Nikki has made my internet registrations a nightmare.) I've always loved roleplaying games. I have played tabletop RPG's (D&D, D20 Modern/Future, Shadowrun, GURPS, Eclipse Phase) on and off since I was 12, and even took serious part in the World of Warcraft roleplaying servers. I like to consider that last one the "darker" period of my life, though I still think back fondly. It's easy to see the potential in Space Station 13, and it's a shame it took me this long to realise it exists at all. Science fiction is a guilty pleasure of mine that basically none of my modest friends circle shares, unfortunately. I look forward to meeting you all in game, and working up the courage to actually press the "join" button. If you have not yet you should consider joining the discord channel, alot of good resources there! The Wiki is also a great resource for new players as well! It sure can be hectic from time to time, but, glad to see a new face around here! Would be more than happy to see you in-game! And don't worry about the community, they're a bit weird sometimes, but are generally super friendly. Oh, and pop by on the discord if you haven't already, you'll find a good chunk of active players there. If you have any issues, don't be afraid to let one of us administrators know!
