Don't necropost. This thread was dead as of over a year before someone decided to revive it. If it's seriously something to consider... make a new thread, which can be talked about with a current opinion.

As a reminder: Do not post on admin complaints with your personal opinions or what have you- unless you were involved in the event and have something new to add, you shouldn't be posting here at all.

For further more information, i was also told that he was taunting by saying ''Feel free to make a admin complaint''
For further information, this is what I said [01:20:02]ADMIN: Tigercat2000/(Irvine Olphert) : Admin complaint forum, feel free
In response to [01:19:55]SAY: Ghost/Kyutness : How do I file a legitimate complaint about an admin?
I didn't mean to come off as taunting or sarcastic with that particular comment, sorry if I did.

We've tried Parallax before. It caused everything from client crashes to significant server lag, purely because of the processing power required for it. Even our server can't handle both fancy goonlights running at 1 tick updates alongside atmospherics and parallax.

This isn't an appeal, nor does it follow the ban appeal template, it's an Admin Complaint. As such, unless you have anything relevant to the situation at hand to add to it, please do not post on this thread.

This definitely belongs in the code discussion subforum, that's what it's there for, discussing the balance implications of new PRs as well as other uses.
-
That's not what this subforum is for. It's about discussing the balance implications of new functionality and debating about them, ideally with the maintainers. See the Science post for example, or "Balancing OP Mecha".
-
I've moved this to Code Discussion, as that's where forums discussing existing code should be placed, not in General.
-
We had bulletpoints, headers, and more with the rules. Soooomeone (*cough @Regen ) forgot to actually backup the BB code for it...

Clearly we should implement Vocaloid software into our codebase.
-
And before you bring up GalCom, for all we know that's literally communicated by sign language, since apparently every species has fingers/appendages to do so.
That's also ignoring that every species can speak gutter, tradeband, and clownish.
-
A feature freeze might be a good idea, but, I dunno if we can get away with it- don't really have enough coders interested in fixing anything. We could try /tg/'s last feature freeze strategy; Need to have a fix PR merged for every feature PR you make.

are read-only versions of the languages feasable from a code standpoint?
Not currently; I think it's possible to implement, however.

https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/5413
I figure this is probably worth making a thread over, as it's already semi-controversial on github.
The pull offers the following:
- Skrellian, Sinta'unathi, Siik'tajr, Canilunzt, and Sol Common become selectable alt languages.
- You can now drop your species language in exchange for another language. For example, instead of a human having Sol Common and Gutter, they could have Gutter and Tradeband.
-
This really isn't feasible to implement. A lot is tied to a lying mob, allowing them to move is asking for trouble- if it's even possible to do without giving literally everyone the ability to crawl.

the PR was closed
-
Well, obviously, I want to see this back, since I made the PR. I don't really expect it to get through, though, because of all the balans concerns.
-
I still think the slot should stay. There's no reason to have it gone nor stay IMO, but removing little things like this for no reason contributes badly to the codebase.

No, there are not any "updates" we are missing that would actually significantly speed up air transfer. -tg- decided to run LINDA 4 times as fast, and it only makes space wind waaay more annoying to deal with. A room will still take minutes to drain. That's literally how LINDA is designed.
The only other update LINDA has had is a massive change to make gas datums generic and expandable, and it serves basically no purpose. It adds nothing, but makes anything dealing with gas datums incredibly expensive because it's using nothing but lists. BYOND handles lists awfully.

there is literally no control over this on any of our hands
host insists only one person is allowed to patch
right now that one person is gone for now

1. Replace the X-Ray genetic mutation with a thermal version.
no thanks, X-Ray is a vanilla power, it's been the same for fucking years, literally one of the original 4 powers
-
i will only support this if we also add green-screen shit and cameras
so you can go full haunt on a greenscreen
Dream Daemon killing connection workaround.

Generating the rsc works fine, as I just tested with a vanilla copy of current Paradise code. I believe this is an issue with our resource loading proxies.
