  2. We have the base gases in reagent form on /TG/, they work well except for that they do probably produce too much gas per unit. This leads to all the most powerful meta grenades containing plasma and ClF3. N2O grenades are fun though. I used a N2O, lexorin and cyanide smoke grenade during my last chemist traitor round to gas botany for stealing BOTH my dispensers and the board from the tech storage.
  3. That seems quite finicky though as well as requiring mining access and the ever so overused emag.
  4. I don't know how gold extracts work on paradise these days, but on /tg/ they have this functionality built into them. When injected with plasma the extract will explode into hostile mobs after 3 seconds, giving you plenty of time to throw it like a grenade. In abstract, releasing angry mobs is a good traitor gimmick, but i dont think it is feasible on paradise without hijack as the rules neuter antagonists too much and you would probably get beaned if your wumborian fugu crits Urist McGreyshirt. This idea strongly reminds me of the gorilla cubes traitor item on /tg/. Gorillas are hilarious and strong simple mobs. They have a strong melee attack and hands which makes them a very fun target for sentience potion. An idea that might be more paradise friendly might be a syndicate version of the /tg/ golden capture device(pokeball) that allows you to store a simple mob inside an item, this would then, when thrown release the mob at the impact site and cause it to aggro the closest player.
  5. They are designed to look like characters commonly depicted in the "furry" fetish art community. I believe that certain individuals affinity for this art movement was the impetus for adding this particular race to the game. All the descriptions of weird organs or anatomical features are afterthoughts, it is a way to retrofit this "furry" stock character into a sci-fi setting. Let us imagine me creating a Head of Security outfit based on Tom of Finland drawing, i would then need to craft a justification for this being in the game, just adding some bluespace mumbo-jumbo in the description might be enough if the maintainers are receptive and i am in good standing with the community.
  6. Firing pins are great, if you want to print a new gun, or find one that is locked, you have a choice of emaging a test range pin, stealing the basic pins from sec or printing the mindshield pin and then obtaining a mindshield implant(steal it, buy it or extract it from a corpse) Or, if you are a clown, TC trade for the dangerous clown firing pin which not only makes the gun honk for each shot and removes the clumsy check, it also detonates its internal nitrobananium charge if any non-clown tries to fire the gun. That is a more interesting system than requiring sci & armoury access or an emag. Then again, just because something works /tg/ doesn't mean it will work on paradise.
  7. Here are some options. Hold the victim hostage naked in the chefs backroom, barricade the door and get ready to put them into the gibber once sec break down the doors. The same setup. but with the cremator. Hold their dead body hostage and threaten to blow up their body with SR and deepfry / eat their brain.' health sensor or signaller grenade assembly Throw them into the supermatter singulo(somehow?) Get really fat, monkey your victim and threaten to eat them(does this still work on paradise?) Get THEM really fat, threaten to gib them with mint toxin(bonus points if you are also fat)
  8. Fun non destructive gimmicks: Steal the armory Free prisoners from perma Release annoying viruses Open 10 priority clown slots Lube / freeze as much of the station as possible ??? Fun destructive gimmicks Cover the station in max stat'ed Kudzu Hotwire the engine into the grid and shock stuff Throw a gorillion combustible lemons Release killer tomatoes Create horrific disposal traps Inject plasma into lightbulbs, cigars, cells Mislabel horrific poisons as medicine Boobytrap random containers with mousetrap grenades Give people horrific brain trauma / mutations Gas the bar with horrific grenades(see above) Release deadly viruses Flamethrower Create an army of emagged borgs by force borging random people. Seize command of the station using a golem army Emag medibots Make floorbots that place plasma or uranium tiles Build a ton of uranium stuff in general; airlocks and statues. Do atmos wizardry and get the brig or bridge flooded with superheated CO2 or oxygen. Release lots of giant spiders Poison food and drinks
  9. The problem is that many of these bay style gimmicks are very non-threatening and fail to provide real tension. Local syndicate terrorist steal apples from old man Jenkins hydroponic orchard. There are fun gimmicks you can do on paradise such as stealing the entire armoury or rescuing all prisoners from perma. Although many traitor gimmicks involve some kind of violence or risk of death, there is for example a qualitative difference between someone silently murderboning 20 with ebow/esword and 20 people dying because a mad plant scientist covered the entire station in max stats kudzu and killer tomatoes while taunting the crew. One of my greatest traitor moments on /tg/ was when a trial was held for two traitors accused of stealing the hand tele(which they had managed ditch before their arrest) and i stormed in to hand over a bag purportedly containing the piece of evidence in question. When the detective tried to retrieve the hand tele from the bag he instead found an armed mousetrap grenade, killing the detective, captain as well as the lawyer representing the accused. I was able to then free the traitors, obtain the medal of captaincy as well as all access. I think many players would be hesitant to even ask if they could do like this on paradise because they figure they will get denied for sure. Do you admins feels you are liberal in granting such requests, contrary to what i think is the common perception? If so, how do we communicate this to the playerbase?
  10. This is like a fantasy scenario that doesn't happen even when allowed and would probably be forbidden under the powergaming rule anyway if done habitually. I've seen this happen once in hundreds of hours on /tg/ where this is allowed(HoS spaced his own gun to deny a traitor). I'd say you have a better chance of finding it than the detective, and he manages to track down the suspect a fair amount of the time. I have revised my position on this though. At first i thought, who cares if you find x object or greentext? But after some reflection, I guess this rule is a necessary due to limited options for antagonism for non-hijack solo antagonists, vampire excluded.
  11. It seems to me that antagonists on a medium RP server should seek to be creative and add to the round rather than powergaming and chasing the green text. Then why are antag theft objectives treated as sacred? Isn't actually searching for the item more engaging than the formulaic emag door/locker -> grab item or kill head -> grab item. This is aggravated by the supremely stupid item advanced pinpointer that just spoonfeeds you the location of your targets. Conducting your own investigation and then robbing the possible suspects is a lot more fun in my opinion. Blasting greytiders with rubbershot is a more tangible form of antagonism than silently hacking the teleporter door anyway. I think it is a bad rule since it makes little IC sense and promotes green text chasing. What do you think?
  12. The upside of zipties, as stated by the guy on TG who coded them IS that they break on removal so you can leave them on the prisoner and not give them a free set of cuffs. I would not mind making them stackable though. I would also kinda like if they were craftable using plastic sheets, i was actually going to suggest that on the TG forums. If think letting you apply them faster would be a neat idea but security does not really need more buffs on paradise where traitors get stomped round after round.
  13. Low energy. It needs a slip module, a vandalism module for quickly breaking windows, a theft sack and pickpocket gloves. 1. Engage slip subroutine 2. Engage zipties 3. Empty backpack into sack 4. ??? 5. YEET
  14. This works well, but i have stopped doing because it feels like powergaming and pretty much make the chef obsolete. One or two sips takes you from starving to well fed! Being able to essentially opt out of the entire hunger system should not be so easy on a medium RP server in my opinion and it is something the coders should take a look at.
  15. Just let us put atropine in the medical hypo, great for the paramedic and still usable in an offensive manner without being that deadly. I always put atropine in my CMO hypo. Or make a new chem master like machine that lets you create single use epipens full of choice drugs.
  16. The absolute state of paradise admins. I agree that slowing you down to walking speed is excessive but some slow down would really help both immersion and gameplay. If an armed madman is murdering your coworker you should not be able to carry them away at lightning speed.
  17. I agree that some kind of buff to the poison bottles are needed. 2 tc for a poison bottle is a ridiculous cost given how overcrowded the map is. Poisons are often not worth using outside a few select ones, clever mixes and the really cheesy ones(nanites). I think a poison kit that includes amantin is interesting, because it at least it prevents the victim from being able to run to medbay and get cured the instant they start feeling sick. Not so sure about the other inclusions, i have not tested formaldehyde much but sulfanol and cyanide are very slow and underwhelming on their own.
  18. I have been playing on tg everyday for a week now, and while their economy does NOT seem to be persistent even their shoddily implemented half baked economy rework is still vastly superior to the paradise system, this is best illustrated by the fact that despite tg terry being a very low RP server, people actually sell items and pay each other for services rendered far more often than on paradise! One of the most important features is easing transactions by allowing players to withdraw credit holochips from their ID by alt clicking it. Even their barebones implementation would be be a great addition to paradise. Thoughts on persistence: I agree that there are issues with a permanent economy. i suggest instead option for a semipermanent economy that resets after x(10,20 30) days. This would mitigate a lot of the issues such as inflation, extreme wealth imbalances and getting robbed or going broke is not as big of a deal. The IC justification for this could be that NT reserves the right to manage your savings and end up losing it all due to risky investments. This would still reward more active player and players of higher paid roles. This is a good thing in my opinion as this social stratification can foster RP. Of course in my ideal implementation, the player would be able to set two withdrawal limits one for their card and one for the ATM, this way theft would be limited but still possible. A player who mains assistants and does not regularly play might not be able to buy a full set of tools at roundstart but instead have to choose only the most essential ones, ask cargo or scavenge maint. Is that really so horrible? That incentivises them to actually take jobs assisting other departments and its actually matters to them if they are caught misbehaving and as a result have their tools confiscated. Poor player wont be able to empty the chemfridge but instead have to rely on doctors to treat them, is that so bad? SS13 is not an E-sport its a RPG, its okay if not all players start the round on a completely equal footing if it fosters RP. PS: While i personally would like to see this kind of semi persistent system implemented i think paradise staff are too conservative to attempt to any kind persistent economy as it would have a decent risk of failure i do however believe that some kind of tg style(nonpersistent) rework could feasibly become reality.
  19. Here is a gadget, my idea for this is like a expendable luxury item that lets you gild your gun or other suitable item. Who wouldn't like a golden stechkin? EDIT: The handle is hard to see against the background.
  20. I am not much of a xenobiology player but i like the golems and golem spam rounds can be very memorable. I recently found out that TG has an amazing selection of golem types. https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Golem Some are just slightly more robust but other types such as the plastic, glass, sand and cloth golems have very interesting abilities. I think this would be a very fun system to port, both for the xenobiologist and the golems. Do you think it would take a lot of effort to port this? Let me know what you think
  21. Here is a sleek black, red and slightly suspicious pen. It might be a little long. I wish i had some kind of logo or colorscheme to work off for Waffle Co and Donk Co promotional pens as well.
  22. That is more of an ooc reason than an IC reason, presumably your character has a desire to obtain more credits. I will accept and offer credits as payment because it is better for RP, but it doesn't feel good because the credits are so damn useless. Some kind of overhaul is needed and if a persistent economy is too hard to manage, we should at least consider reworking the current round based system by adding more desirable items for purchase, rebalancing the slot machines and easing credit handling by letting you deposit or withdraw credits at the ATM with only a short 4-5 digit pin code.
  23. Here comes some different handbag patterns for the set of luxury items i am drawing, they are still very much wip, if i decide i like them i will do the on character sprites as well.
  24. I suggest adding a whole new range of credit purchasable luxury foods, drinks, clothes and other assorted luxury items. Have you become filthy rich under this system? Don't worry there are thing to spend your fortune on. Want impress your fellow Tarajans by only eating the finest imported Chinese gold hamsters? only 15 000 credits per cage of 3. You could even pay the chef extra to cook you a meal using the finest ingredients, perhaps you fancy a 9 000 credit wheel of blue cheese? No problem As long the credits are useful to someone they will start flowing and soon you will be able to buy all kinds of goods and services(including stolen goods, for all you greytiders). (Sprites are WIP)
