  1. A follow up suggestion could be to add a crew monitoring computer to lavaland so it's a little easier for miners to look after one-another.
  2. Hello everyone. I am making one of two simple suggestions: 1. Make it so that crew monitors can monitor the miners on Lavaland 2. Give the paramedic a unique scanner that can allow them to monitor the miners on Lavaland. It would just be a huge quality of life change for everyone involved and it would give paramedics more to do during quiet antag rounds.
  3. I really hate cloning in Space Station 13, but I don't know that this server could manage without it. Death being meaningless is such an important aspect to this server, and would require a rebalance of sooooo many things to make it viable. That said, if the staff were willing and wishing to make those steps, I think it would be an extremely positive thing. I do hate cloning. So much.
  4. Hello everyone, I didn't really know how to phrase this suggestion, so I'm just gonna type and hope the idea comes through. You know how if you have your primary set to security but you're made an antag, it will give you another role? I was kind of hoping that could be applied to other jobs as well, namely command. HOLD YOUR HORSES and finish reading this suggestion before commenting, because this may be sounding like a suggestion I've made prior, but it's different... I promise. I had suggested previously that Command Staff be a non-antag "department" along with security, but that suggestion was met with lukewarm response and not embraced by the server staff. I generally play Ardent Cros and play almost exclusively as the Chief Engineer. Because of my philosophy about command staff I never get to antag. I was hoping there was some way to make it so that players who do not want to play as antag command staff can get automatically placed in another role (similarly to how it happens in security). When I play a command staff, I feel an obligation to the station and to my department to perform my tasks loyally, and it feels a bit gross (for me, I know other people feel different) betraying the crew as the Chief Engineer. I realize that I am probably in an extreme minority here, but if there was some way to accommodate the players who want to play as loyal command staff without being forced to never get to antag, that would be much appreciated :)
  5. I absolutely love all of these suggestions. Anything that brings more roleplay to the antagonist-security interactions can be nothing but positive.

    Code 200 Hazard: "Examples of this crime involve accidental plasma leaks, slipping hazards, accidentally shocking doors, breaking windows to space, or Security personnel not keeping their equipment secure. A banana peel in the corridor is not a hazard. A banana peel in front of the singularity is. " Not wearing an ID would look out of place among those examples.

    I totally agree with that Sonador. The law is mostly just to address the awkward situations in which a masked figure it standing somewhere shady and an officer wants to ID them. There should be some law allowing officers to force identification.

    Aye, there are a lot of ways different laws can be bent to compensate for the lack of concrete ID regulations, but that is what this suggestion is meant to address. Laws are always going to be subject to interpretation.

    Hello everyone, I just got back into SS13 a week ago, and I've been looking into playing magistrate. it's been a long time since I have posted on these forums, but as I have been studying Paradises' Space Law I have found no regulations or laws regarding Identification Cards specifically. I understand an ID can be covered under any degree of theft, and that not wearing an ID can constitute "suspicious activity" for blue alert and beyond, but there are no laws directly tied to the proper display of identification. My suggestion is simple, either add a law that makes failure to properly display ID a crime in core space law, or add a clause in the blue alert and red alert SOP that makes it fall under one of the pre-existing laws to not display ID. I don't think the law should carry a very hefty punishment (since it could be considered, at its most exaggerated, creating a "workplace hazard") but I think there should be a specific law associated with this facet of corporate life. Most companies make it mandatory to display identification cards while on company property, NanoTrasen should not, and would not, be any different.
  10. Hello! I’ll make this quick and simple. I was hoping the Security Pod could be given an on-board computer that allows them to modify records and set arrests. As it stands now, most of the time, the security pilot fills a more supporty role, which I think is perfectly good. It would be nice if the security pod pilot could set people for arrest if they see them doing stuff in maintenance or elsewhere so that when they call it in, security can have an easier time apprehending them. It’ll also give the pod pilot an additional task when stuff is happening internal the station and the pod pilot is not in a position to directly assist.

Yeah I definitely see the validity of your statement, but Paradise rounds are actually pretty on par lengthwise with some higher roleplay servers; maybe a bit shorter, but nothing significantly. The forensic tools don't necessarily have to take much longer, I think the tools just offer the detective more things to do than just pray someone was dumb enough to not wear gloves when committing a crime.

Hello gents, I use to be a long time CSI/detective on Aurora Station as well as Unbound (if anyone can even remember that far back) and they both used a code that really made the detective role feel unique and interesting to play. I was wondering if there was any reason we couldn't adopt some (if not all) of the code that Aurora currently uses for their forensic system. For those of you unfamiliar, the detective has a plethora of tools that allow him or her to analyze a crime scene ranging from a tool that lets them see cleaned up blood, to a fingerprint and fiber analyzer kit. I understand that a lot of that stuff is compacted into the vanilla forensic scanner we have now, but it's both incredibly un-interesting and ineffective. Also I'm sorry if this topic has been suggested already, I did quick search, but didn't see anything that spoke to this. I'm just surprised that nothing has been said about this.
  13. I agree; I think that the impact of a code red alert is often lost on the fact that it is so common and persistent. It would be nice to see less than the maximum level of response from security, as well as an increase in security response when necessary. It'd also be neat for there to be a command issued "Bio-hazard" emergency to allow security to force quarantine (idk maybe it's that Covid speaking to me)
  14. Howdy gents, My name is Biolock, in game I often play as Alex Crossman. Some of you may remember me from my time as a staff member on Colonial Marines, or mayhaps even further back to my time as a staff member on BestRP; regardless, I really enjoy playing on this server and I imagine y'all are probably use to seeing my character around already. I'm still kind of trying to figure out what exactly I like and dislike in terms of roles so I'm still jumping between a few. Ultimately I'll end up having a few different characters all with the last name "Crossman" to fill the various roles I enjoy playing. I look forward to seeing you all on station

    It would be nice if the AI could select its starting laws from the possible standard lawsets (NT Standard, Corporate, and Asimov). Small suggestion, but I, for one, really like playing with Asimov. This, of course, would not prevent the crew from modifying the laws as they see fit, but it'd be nice to choose what you start with.
  16. After having just played a game where the HoP, CMO, and RD were all antags at the same time, I can safely say I feel my point is reinforced.

  18. That comment has been made before already, and I TOTALLY understand the concern and it's completely valid. However I do not think that you would see the CE and RD becoming akin to robo cops or anything of the sort, they elected to be in a department other than security after all.

    Addiction is currently totally out of wack, it's as if this game is an anti-smoking/ anti-drinking ad. As it stands, smoking and drinking are WAY too addictive at this time. At the time of me writing this, my character is currently gagging, retching, and is willing to DIE after having drank 10 units of whiskey. The same goes for smoking, addiction is too sensitive, way too sensitive.
  20. That is true, however I don't think all that many people would care that they are not going to be converted into a cultist. Maybe I am speaking for the masses, but I don't believe that would factor into many people's decisions to play command. Mindshielding doesn't really effect shadowling conversions, and the final crew-wide round, Revolution, is arguably most fun for the command staff because they're being manhunted and it's fun to try and hide/stay alive.
  21. 10-20 minutes from asking someone to get the implant removed from the moment the person says, “Hey I’d like to go SSD” to getting the implant back in your hand. I also recently discovered that a recovered implant can not be injected through the injector again, it has to be put in through surgery.

I think that a large argument stems from the fact that people wouldn’t want to play heads as often if they thought they were sacrificing their chances to be an antag, but that’s simply not the case, antags are selected before jobs are selected, so if you’re selected to be an antag, it just wouldn’t make you the RD/Ce/etc. When I made this suggestion it was less about the in-game power of command traitors, and more about the roleplay aspect of it. Command traitors make zero sense, they’ve probably been with the company for a decade, and they were vetted and trusted enough to be made head of a department on a state of the art research vessel. At the VERY least, command traitors should be given the absolute hardest objectives; they’ve no doubt been a sleeper agent for 10 years and are now blowing their cover to assassinate bald assistant #249

Kyet I certainly see your point, however the way your server is run, antags are selected before roles, so if someone who usually plays RD is selected for antag, they would take their next priority role to play as an antag (maybe a scientist if they have it set to medium): I’m sure you know all of that already, but I highlight that to other people to explain why it would not deteriorate people’s willingness to play command staff. In addition, as someone who primarily plays command staff and the blueshield, Internal Affairs and NTR rarely deal with antags in their fluff/NT role. When they’re reprimanding heads of staff it is usually because a breach of corporate regulations or negligence. No antag cares about listening to the corporate lackies, especially not the CE who just set the tesla loose or the RD on the run with reactive teleport armor. Finally to address the “de-facto security” concern. I don’t think you’re giving the people who play command on your server enough credit. I think you’re absolutely right that some cucks would probably try that, but for the most part (especially the regulars who play RD, CE, HoP, and CMO) they prefer to play their role how it was intended. If they wanted to be the HoS or security in general then they would have signed up for the role. Even the captains in most games I’ve experienced do not try and be a part of the security department anymore than a captain should be. For a server with very loosely defined standards, I think the command staff do a remarkable job of not power-gaming their roles. However even as I write this, I am not certain my suggestion is the right decision, but I definitely believe it to be worth the discussion.
  24. Yeah I also would feel like an asshole asking someone to sit around for 10-20 minutes getting their implant removed while they want to get offline.
