Well, we already have genderless, which is synonymous with 'none', but which is not the same thing as being enby.

    https://github.com/ParadiseSS13/Paradise/pull/23469

The PR adds genderless, which is none but not genderfluid. So genderless is either a less snowflaky term for nonbinary or the same thing (none).

Either way, I can get behind this change as long as misgendering someone is never going to be penalized.

While this is technically true, it ignores the fact that this is still an improvement on the current way assassination objectives work; whereby if your target dies for any reason it counts as a success, whether or not you had anything to do with their death (or even saw them at any point, dead or alive). The photo method would at least require some level of involvement/awareness of the victim's death. Not all criticisms turn into good ideas, either ;)

While I can't say I fully disagree with you, what exactly does it improve? With how fast a crewmember can go from cloner to key witness, I don't think this change will have the desired effect. Leaving a revivable corpse behind for the good of the community doesn't exactly sound tempting. Murder is murder even if they are revivable and you have a photo.

  3. Not all shower thoughts turn into good ideas. Besides the problem of a traitor simply reviving their victim after taking a picture, there is also the problem of a traitor taking a picture of a targets corpse that they didn't even kill. After the morgue photoshoot they will simply go "lol i did it" and leave. This is fraud. Fraud is bad.

I know murder objectives are unfun for the victim but lets be real here. There are way better solutions to this problem.

  4. I can't say that I fully agree with you here. Personally I feel like it's very underrated and overlooked, but it has several downsides and I do consider it a niche pick.

While it is a multi use item, you do need preparation before you can use it effectively, especially in combat. The addition of modsuits also means that you can't use the implant while wearing it or your modsuit will get depowered.

I also feel like the cling EMP ability is way more problematic and overpowered than the EMP kit.

  5. Since Rurik said everything I wanted to say I will try to make this short.

Firstly, changing major aspects of combat based on what lowpop antags are doing is not optimal. I get that para is on lowpop most of the week, but everything else is made for highpop. This includes officer and antag balance, maps, the entire economy, our server capacity etc etc. This leads to inconsistency, which in my humble opinion is very bad.

Secondly, @MattTheFicus I hope you think of this thread as a civilized discussion between gentlemen (and possibly gentlewomen). I don't think anyone here wants to see you castigated over this change. Make no mistake, your work will always be appreciated even if it might be controversial.

EDIT: Wait, it's not even your PR. Disregard everything!

If CQC can go on discount, should carpfu be able to be discounted aswell then? In general, CQC and carpfu are priced the same.

No I think not. Carp has been rebalanced too but I'd rather not reintroduce carpsaw.

  7. CQC has been reworked. It's no longer as overpowered as it used to be before the combat rework. Back in 2021 was one of the most popular traitor items for several reasons. It was too good and really unfun to be at the recieving end of.

I still haven't tried the rework but I assume that it's not as broken as it used to be. I'd like to use it more often, but it's really expensive.

So why not let it be on discount? I don't see many traitors using CQC and this could help.

Would you say Farragus is a longer travel time, if you have played it? I wanna get an understanding of how big Shepard really be

If I remember it correctly the newest version looks more compact than the one we tested in 2022.

Farrsgus is a bit more all over the place and might be more walking now because of that.

My only gripe about this is that it is not the majority, it's just people not voting.

Just now a round has ended, there were 3 cyberiad votes and 1 cerebron with 69 players connected (6%). After 10-15 seconds, I asked people to vote. It ended with 7 Cyberiad, 7 Delta, 1 Meta (15 votes cast, 21% of the connected players). The vote was a tie, and it defaulted(?) to Cyberiad, something only 10% of the connected players asked for.

Even though people vote for other maps, we just get box over and over again, completely disregarding those who always vote for meta or delta.

People do not vote, I am not sure why. Maybe they need a sound notification to remind them that this is a thing they should be doing.

I personally rarely vote because it just goes to Box every-single-time I vote and it is incredibly disheartening.

I think it'd be better to call for actual statistics (if we save votes) for this case, because while I personally see only 2-5 people voting, it's my very limited personal experience, and should not be used as a staple. But - again, personal experience - I do not think the majority decides this. Barely anyone votes. It's the usual case of a "loud minority".

People are definitely at fault here for not casting their votes, but it would be beneficial to find out why they are not voting.

People love EORG on Paradise. I think a forced popup would help a lot because I don't wanna miss the incoming bar brawl.

  10. I have been playing medical ever since I started here. I don't love having a new annoying virus every 15 minutes, but I did notice something. This whole system made having a virologist who knows what he's doing just as important as having good chemists every shift. In my opinion this is a good thing because with the new system, virology is more interesting to play. However, it could be a lot better.

Now let's say you're CMO and you don't have a good virologist. This is a problem that can be dealt with quite easily. Either hire a viro from inside or outside of your department or do this:

    1. Enter viro.

    2. Make a virus using the flu virus bottle and unstable mutagen.

    3. Repeat until you have anti-bodies metabolism.

    4. Remove the other symptoms with diphenhydramine.

    5. Release and distribute.

    6. ????

    7. Immunity.

If you as a CMO does not know virology, you are screwed. You should always learn the entire department before thinking about leading it anyway. If you don't have a good chemist, CMO has to make chems. If you don't have a good doctor, you gotta fix people. It's the same thing with research directors and roboticists, head of security and warden (which is a hella lot more annoying imo).

  11. Byond Key: Diesel Uterus

IC Name for Review: Subject 65

    Race: Human

    Gender: Male

Is this a Mime or Clown Job Name? NO

    Reason/Backstory:

I have wanted to create a new character for a long time now. I'm probably never gonna stop playing on Frank but I do want to try some roles that I have never quite gotten into such as NTR and Magistrate. I don't feel like Frank fits the role because he is very simplistic and doesn't really care about climbing the corporate ladder. My English has improved a lot over the years so I figured it's time that I tried.

So I made this guy. Subject 65 is a highly intelligent man working for Nanotrasen. Not a lot is known about his past. He is a short man with long dark hair and a long beard. On his shirt you can see a nametag that says "Ham".

So who is Ham? Ham is Subject 65. He is the first great ape that was launched into space back in January 31, 1961. How the hell did he even get on this space station? Why is he human? Only NT knows. But one thing is for sure, he is 100% loyal to Nanotrasen and takes his duties very seriously.

I also want you to know that even if he is based on Ham the Astrochimp (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ham_(chimpanzee)) I don't plan on doing low-effort shit such as eating bananas and littering the NTR office with banana peels. This guy is a true NT OG and will wreck your shit if you don't follow command SOP. Because he used to be a great ape he does have some problems with facial expressions. Other than that he is completely normal in every way.

    Thank you for your time.

  12. Hello!

We had a shift last night where Flick got to do a TC trade for the ninja kit. The ninja kit involves smoke grenades, and after the shift we had a discussion about it and now I'm making a thread.

I love smoke grenades. Ever since we added delta in the map rotation, there is a smoke grenade at a spawn point west of medical maints. If I roll antag on delta, you bet your ass I'm going to pick it up everytime. Why is that? Well, it's because smoke grenades are SO GOOD.

Why are smoke grenades so good? Well it has so many many uses. Mainly you use it to screen your movements from whoever is chasing you and also hide whatever you are doing from everyone else. Obscuring vision can be helpful in so many ways, and it can also be used as a diversion. And best of all, it's harmless. Unlike the flashbang it doesnt stun and deafen everyone around you, which makes it useful for when you need just a LITTLE bit of crowd control. It is a little annoying, but it's not as annoying as someone spamming flashbangs.

These are so much fun, and I would love if they were added in more places. Maybe have them spawn randomly in maints? They are harmless after all, and it could be a fun harmless prank for the clown to throw at someone because they do no harm. As a contractor player I would love it if they were added as a low cost traitor item as well, because getting smoke grenades in your contractor bundle would be so awesome.
