  1. Let's outline the problem first off. A pretty common complaint in the department section of the poll was that people tend to run a muck, take things, or do whatever they want in medical. Compared to basically any other department, people don't respect the access or understand that it is trespassing to go in without being invited by someone who works there. Similarly stocking up on medicines as security or mining in particular is meta, and no one treats this like the theft it is. The common response to this is security should be dealing with this, but in most cases this both something they don't care about and are too busy to do it. The other problem medbay often has is the frankly massive amount of blood everywhere, however as infections are a thing and medbay should be kept clean it either means harassing the janitor or getting soap or cleaner with a doctor or the CMO cleaning the floor instead of treating people. My proposal to solve this is adding a new job named orderly. Possible alternate names "ward attendant", "nurse assistant", or "healthcare assistant". Their access would be limited to the main areas of medical. They would be expected to keep medical clean and orderly. This includes cleaning the floors, restraining violent or resisting patients, and removing trespassers. Additionally doing minor first aid and manning the front desk are recommended. Their equipment would include a bar of soap and a bottle of cleaner. Give them a locker in the front desk area. From here I have two divergent ideas on how they can deal with either people breaking in, Give them a baton and a way to apply ether(patches, hypo, syringe). This would come with an SOP where they are treated like bartender regarding their baton and taking it outside of medical where they would be subject to possession of a weapon charge. This is to prevent valid hunting. I prefer this idea. Take a page out of the cook's loadout and give them a martial art that only works in the medbay. This solves the issue about valid hunting as a orderly only has the ability to easily trip and grab people inside the medbay. UPDATE: If I go the CQC route I would be removing all harm based moves from the CQC which leaves them with the following: Disarm: 65% chance for 5 brute and to take what's in hand. Grab: Instant aggressive grab. Grab Grab: Applies 5 stun and "restrains" them for 5 seconds. If they are restrained and you use a disarm they get hit with a chokehold for 10 sleep. Disarm Grab: Does 60 stam damage. 75% chance to block melee if you are in throw stance with an item in hand In conclusion: Pros: Keeps medical clean. Reduces disruptions to medical working. Lets doctors focus on serious injuries by dealing with minor external injuries. Removes dealing with people fucking around in medical from security’s workload, as they are already too busy to do it. Cons: Possible valid hunting. - This can be addressed with SOP to be possessing a weapon outside medbay for their baton, or giving a martial art instead that only works in medbay. Medbay is already crowded. - This should be mitigated by their existence, rather than exacerbated by it because they should be removing everyone who doesn't belong in medbay from medbay. I'd like to refine this idea enough that I can make a PR for it that will get serious consideration so I welcome any and all feedback.

  2. Name of Event: All Races Together - A stationwide footrace One Sentence Description: NT is holding a stationwide footrace to improve morale and race-relationships. Map Changes: No Code Changes: No Suggested Number of Players: Medium-highpop Full Description of Event: Due to complaints of non-diversity, Nanotrasen is starting it's "All races together" initative which is a foot race from one end (arrivals) of the station to the other (departure). They hope it will bridge racial chasms and bring the whole crew together. Security is in charge of keeping the racetrack clear and the captain/ntrep/IAA agents are in charge of documenting the start and end, and who wins. At the start of the shift, the race is announced to be happening probably like an hour or 45minutes into the shift. During that time the track needs to be prepared and cleared of debris and all contestants can get time to excercise, hopefully together in a wide constellation of races. After the race there should be an award ceremony where the captain hands out medals. Altough it isn't important who wins, the winner will get some sort of price, maybe a date with the captain/a letter from the head of Nanotrasen/a special joke made by the clown/The captain can choose. The journey is the fun, not the destination.

  3. Thanks for the tips! I thought I was just channelling the soul of a grumpy old man today but it's good to know it's happened to others and there is a solution for it.

  4. Yup, what Procdrone said, flash em and pull their batteries. Depending on their Lawset you could also just kindly tell them to go the hell away, and if they ignore you, you can ahelp that theyre ignoring crew commands.

  5. My suggestion for lore would be to take a similar route of the SCP Wiki (http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/) in terms of how to write the lore in a community-driven way. The articles could be posted and written by anyone and require some sort of Lore-Team greenlight and then have it be up or down voted by the community to determine if it stays or not. This would help attempt to make the lore a more grassroots endeavor that aligns with the same ideals we have with the GitHub for the actual code. Would this require more work than is probably NEEDED? Sure. But I feel that there's likely enough interest to at least get a core "lore" written down and applied for the server if we do wish to move to SLIGHTLY higher than low-med RP (which is where I feel Para sits at the moment)

  6. i just personally dont see people relying on brigphys very often it at all. its a mixed bag, you never know if the brig phys upgraded his bay or not. and most people with major injuries wont go to brigbay only to find out he has no supplies or equipment to help you. you die. Everyone just defaults to medbay due to the fact they are expected to be always prepared (also medbay antags intentionally killing off patients is also extremely rare) Most of the time i see brigphys doing work on someone is healing prisoners and installing implants to sec. maybe quick sleeper to inject healing and "off you go". I wont deny that the brigbay meta exists, of course it does. Meta exists with everything. (like robotics adding a protolathe and autolathe, engineering getting an autolathe, cargo adding conveyors, etc). People enjoy upgrading. The perhaps most important thing with brigphys is checking prisoners for implants - medbay is a very long way out, and usually sec doesn't have time to babysit treking through the whole station (and have clown and greytiders make issues all the way through), and then explain everything to a doctor (and then explain 5 more times because they're bald) and waiting for procedures to complete and come back.

  7. Hello! This is a pretty simple and easily code-able suggestion, that I think alot of people would agree with. X-ray is a rather unfun thing to deal with, and goes very heavily against the spirit of SS13, in the sense that things should be uncertain and paranoia should be rife. Anyway my proposal is this: Change miner 'Eyes of god' to simply not drop from tendril chests anymore or rework it to be something a little more interesting and fair, maybe ghost allhud? That would be cool in my opinion. Miners have alot of toys, and free X-ray from RNG is pretty dumb game design to begin with. As for Genetics, changing their X-ray to just be Thermals would probably be enough, as it is currently just locked behind a bit of RNG, meaning you can get it 5 minutes into the round or never, which is again pretty dumb game design. Thanks for reading, have a nice day/morning/evening.

  8. Even though Mechanic is meant to explore space or build pods, in practice, the crew does not generally want a pod, and the Mechanic generally goes to explore space, and any and all space ruins are so often tight that a pod can't get in, and the pod itself cannot interact with the ambient, requiring the Mechanic to eventually get out of his pod, thus making the use of EVA gear inevitable. Mechanic is a part of engineering himself and for some reason the ONLY engineering job that does not have access to EVA Gear(even though ironically the ONLY job in engineering that has to get out of the sector). I think this would be as simple as adding a suit storag unit with a softsuit or an engineering-themed hardsuit inside, magboots and an oxygen-filled jetpack. Here's an image of a sad, anonymous Mechanic with a puny softsuit he had to hack into EVA and almost get arrested to get, now his ghost looks sadly at his body, lamenting for both his life AND suit, that he didn't had right to have at roundstart.
