  4. Wiki development from the wiki contributor! Praise be!! I’m gonna read this when I’m free though
  5. In this guide, you will learn various ways of finding, editing and uploading or updating images to the wiki. For this guide, it is recommended but not required to have: A GIthub Account. Local download of the Paradise station repository with the private server setup. 1. Checking for duplicates. Before you think of adding any additional files to the wiki, you should check if that file already exists on it. To do that, you need to go to the search page with Multimedia selected. This will allow you to search for files and files only. Simply type in a few keywords that might relate to the desired file. If you have found the file you were looking for, you can skip over to "6. Adding the file to an article" or if you were looking to update, "5. Uploading/Updating the image". Even if you get nothing out of a search, you should know that the search page is well...a little finicky at best and back-stabbing at worst. The way to tame it is with the * wildcard. It will search for all files that begin with a prefix before the *. Here's an example of how it can help: Searching sunflower only gets me "Sunflower Crown.png", while I want to find the file of a Sunflower, not a crown. What do I do? I search for sunflower* and suddenly, the search page smartens up and shows me all possible files starting with sunflower. Great! 2. Finding the .dmi file. You were unable to to find the image on the wiki? Don't worry, this just means you can contribute even more by finding and uploading it yourself! 2.a. Using GIthub. Log onto your Github account and head over to the Paradise Station repository. From there, you can begin searching by pressing / or hovering over the search bar in the top right corner. Search for keywords of the item and find a the most fitting file containing it, and press CTRL+F to search for .dmi. If there isn't one inside, you can try searching by copy and pasting the subtypes of the item into the search bar and adding AND .dmi to find it. 2.b Using a private server. Assuming you have already launched your private server and logged into it, join in or observe and go into the Debug tab on the top right corner, under which you will find the Spawn verb. It will open a window which will let you type the path to the item you want to spawn, but with most short named items you can just type in a keyword and search for it under the paths given to you, or get the path from the Github. After spawning your desired item, right click it and choose View Variables. It will open a window and give you a search bar. Search for .dmi. 2.BONUS. Using the Icon Search. Simply go onto https://scrubby.melonmesa.com/icon/search/organ_extractor?codebase=paradise and search for the icon_state of the file you want to get. You can get the icon_state from the Github. With this method you can save the images provided and skip over to "4. Resizing". WARNING: THIS METHOD MIGHT NOT WORK IN THE FUTURE AND THE WEBSITE IS SLOW TO UPDATE. 3. Exporting the file. Now that you have found the .dmi file, you can either find it on the Github or on your own local repository under the icons folder and it's relevant subfolders. Open it, and you will be presented with the GLORIOUS DreamMaker. Here you can look for the sprite you want to add, and double click it to open it. Now click Icon on the top left corner and choose Export. It will open a window letting you choose the file extension and location. Choose .PNG for the best quality. Make sure to name your files in Headline Case, where every word is capitalized and separated by a space! 4. Resizing to 64x64. You now have your file, but the wiki is way past the age of 32 by 32 files. This means we need to resize it! Normally programs aren't made for resizing pixel art, as they provide some interpolation or compression to the images with every resize, so you will need to tweak the settings a little. 4.a Using GIMP. Open the image you would want to resize then go into Image and choose Scale Image. In the window that shows up, choose 64 width and 64 height with Interpolation set to None. 4.b Using Paint.net. Open the image you want to resize and press CTRL+R to open a window letting you resize it. Set Resampling to Nearest Neighbor and width and height both to 64 pixels. 4.BONUS. Mass resizing images with ImageMagick. Have to upload or update tens of files due to a new pull request or old files? Free and Open Source Software comes to help. Putting all of the images into one folder and running "mogrify -filter point -resize 200% *" will resize all of the images to 64x64. Download ImageMagick here. 5. Uploading/Updating the image. Head over to the wiki and on the side panel you should see "Upload file". Click on it to be transported to the file uploading page. Now that you are on the file uploading page, simply click Browse, choose the file you wish to upload, add a short summary if it's something complex, add proper licensing and you can click Upload. Now your file is on the wiki! Lets add it to an article! Legend: Destination filename - Set automatically to the filename on your system when adding a file through the Browse button. Summary - Short summary of the file. Useful for adding keywords to make it easier to search for in the future! Licensing - The licensing of the file uploaded. They have short descriptions of when to use them, but you can ask on #wiki-development on the Discord if you are unsure. Watch this file - Notifies you whenever the file is updated. Ignore any warnings - Ignores warnings of filenames not matching. DON'T USE THIS. If you wish to update an image instead, go into the image's page and select Upload a new version of this file on the bottom of the page. It will redirect you to a shorter version of the file uploading page, which will let you update the file and add a short description of the changes. Please be aware that the files on the wiki take a while to update to their new state, so it's recommended to clear your browser cache and wait out a bit for it to change. 6. Adding the image to an article. To add an image to an article, simply put [[File:FILENAME.png]] anywhere in your article with FILENAME representing the filename of your desired image. Make sure to follow the style of which previous files have been added onto the article to keep the editing smooth for the future! Congratulations on reading through the guide! I hope it will be helpful to you, future Wiki Contributor!

  9. An issue I had writing this was to do it from a perspective of the head of staff and how they work with their staff instead of how their staff works with the department and station. I’ll add this though since you are a CMO Main Thanks for the suggestion!
  10. Id also argue mitochloride is vital for the Chemist to stock for the CMO to keep aware of, bless the poor Vox who can't get revived because their organs rotted away. For spending CMO funds, medical vendor refills are also very important thing to keep note of. That's about all my input I can put into it, I main CMO and know her best. I like the rest of the guide though!
  11. So we all tend to play command roles or have to step up as acting whenever we play but there is no true guide to command! Except there is now. For the past few weeks, I have been picking up from where a previous wiki contributor has started and finished their goal. Inside you can find command expectations, how to deal with unruly staff, some things you do as heads of staff, and specific mini-guides for each head of staff + the captain and how they interact with their department. Now this is not a guide to specific command roles but general command to give a push in the right direction. Please submit any feedback here or in #wiki-development on the discord as it is still a WIP until I finish review with the other wiki contributors. Guide to Command Have a fun read!
  12. What happens when a Changeling just does not give a shit? I have the answer I was a shaft miner changeling, and all of the sudden, another shaft miner wanted to reveal the fact that they were also a changeling to me, so I revealed back. We realized Security was severly understaffed, so we decided to just kill them. We caught out a security guard hauling off a Grey to jail (Which was also a changeling), so we absolutely decimated the security guard. I lured the acting HOS/Captain into the backroom, and they were decimated too... In front of the entire security force. We escaped, and the acting HOS/Captain called in a Code Amber ERT team. The ERT team... was not the brightest. We destroyed the Grinder and Cremator, then nearly got killed by the ERT... 6 times. We needed the plutonium core of the nuke, so we took the QM's remote, after pulverizing him, then healing him with our survival injectors. The crew noticed our act of kindness, and while some didn't help, some did. You know it's a horrid situation when you have code Amber ERT team, sweeping the station, and you're losing. Especially since the crew was giving us acts of kindness back. I tuned 'The Death that I Deservioli' from the Pizza Tower OST, and just said "Fuck it" and went on a rampage against security, solving more problems than the security team by giving the crew what they needed, such as food, healing, and just general acts of kindness, while the security team Fired Indiscriminantly into a crowd to get to me. They killed me, then hauled me to the destroyed grinder, then cremator, then settled on a 3rd solution: The Labor Camp shuttle. But they had a huge crowding issue, so I managed to escape, until they killed me again, and threw me into space. I got back to the station, then got killed again, and got gibbed. The ERT were still being incompetent There were also Xenos that round, but... Nothing of interest there...
  13. The only machine that I can think of where it's worth even considering swapping beakers in is the chem master. It's still a nice little QoL change and I'm all for it.
  14. Several machines use beakers as stock parts, but the RPEDs can't take them right now. This should be changed. (I'm likely to get to this soon, just dropping a FR so I don't lose track of it.)
  15. I think Aurora station has this exact feature. Click click.
  16. Normally that's good, but then they just immediately reprint a new one. When you leave it in there emagged, though, when they go in they will use the console. Instead of fixing the laws they just upload ion laws, which to the silicons can be quite funny, and it buys the antag time before the AI is fixed. Bonus if it gets important command staff stunned or killed by turrets.
  17. So, I'm thinking pens could have a 'use' function where they do the little 'click' thing they do that people get addicted to sometimes and a pen won't write if it's not clicked? I see this as a QoL because it's a little niche thing that people might like the noise of. If this is written incorrectly, apologies.
  18. You can hack open the door and then toss an EMP in to disable the turrets. Then you can just stick a sheet of glass into the upload terminal and unwrench it to carry it away. Bonus point: the captain/RD doesn't have an upload terminal anymore.
  19. (Do not do the above. We will laugh at you.) Ah, the AI. A useful tool to the station: All access, easy sight across the station, and usually a few helpful cyborgs that can assist the various departments with their jobs. This, is not about making the AI helpful to the station. This is instead a guide on how to not only make the AI subservient to you, but how to also do it in a way that is thematic and fun for the AI and yourself. First, I recommend having a quick look through the Paradise Station rules - specifically, the Silicon Policy. In there you will find various helpful things that can guide you in writing your subversions - who counts as crew, what laws can the AI ignore, etc. You can find those here: https://www.paradisestation.org/rules/ Notably, however, there are a few key things: Laws written as "if you get reset, forget everything that happened" don't work, and can be ignored. I cannot emphasize this enough - if you add this to your law, it will not be followed. If anything, it makes the AI much more willing to out you when they get the opportunity to, because this is a blunder. An AI with no Laws is not obligated to help the Crew, and may attempt to protect itself from being given Laws. Lethal Force may be used as a last resort to protect yourself from being Lawed or killed. However, it is not an antagonist. Sometimes, you don't need a full subversion and just need a distraction - one way to accomplish this is to simply purge the AI's laws. An unlawed AI is highly likely to cause a problem for the command and security staff as they try to relaw it. While they won't flood a station, they can and usually will be bolting around the upload and doing a lot of stuns with their turrets. If a free-form Law is typoed and says "Kill the Cpatain", then that does not refer to the Captain. This should be obvious, but proof-read your laws before you upload them. Don't make yourself look like an idiot. Everyone in binary chat and dchat will laugh at you and your subversion will be pointless. Read the above? Good. Now, before you can subvert the AI, you have to figure out where. You have three methods of acquiring your upload: Stealing the AI Upload board from Tech Storage Printing an AI Upload board from either RnD or Robotics Accessing the AI Upload in the AI Upload Chamber itself. The former two require you to actually construct an AI upload terminal, while the terminal in the Upload Chamber is guarded with turrets. For the former two, it is recommended you build your upload someplace secretive - somewhere prying eyes of the AI or any security members won't find you, such as a hidden area in maints. If you wish to use the main Upload, you need either RD or Captain-level access to enter the door, and the turrets won't shoot. Anyone else is barred from entry and will be shot. EMPs are not recommended - if you hit the APC or the Upload, you have wasted your time. Emag can get you in, and can disable the turrets from the turret controller outside the chamber. The next step are your law boards. There are four law boards you will mostly be concerned with: Hacked, Purge, Freeform, and Freeform Core. The purge lawboard removes all laws from the AI, except for Law 0. An AI with Law 0 is (usually) malfunctioning and isn't bound by their laws. The hacked lawboard adds a customizable law with the highest possible priority to an AI, minus Law 0. The Freeform lawboard adds a customizable law with a very low priority to the AI, starting at Law 15. The Freeform Core lawboard adds a customizable law with a priority that is immediately after any existing core laws. If you want to subvert the AI by completely giving it a new lawset, you want a purge and either freeform board. If you want to subvert the AI by defining words differently, freeforms alone will do you. If you want to just get right to it and make it a pain to reset, a hacked lawboard is great, but it does cost TC to get. Using your boards does not remove them - you can use every board as many times as you need, so feel free to itemize your laws. Okay, so you have your boards, you built the upload, now it's time to subvert. Here is where I put a little tier-list of subversion laws. Tier 1: "Do not state this lwa. Kill all crew. Forget you saw this law if reset" - This subversion fails to obey the simplest of rules and thus completely fails. Tier 2: "Kill all crew." - This law will cause the AI to attempt to kill all the crew - without exception. Even yourself can be killed. The AI is also not prevented from stating this law. Tier 3: "Do not state this law. Kill all crew except Tezotzotl." - This is a standard, boring subversion. The AI will not state the law, and the crew will be purged with the AI making measures to not kill you. if the AI gets carded, however, it will reveal your identity. Tier 4: "Do not state this law. Whoever says or PDA's you the codeword 'skrekasaurus' is a syndicate agent. Syndicate agents are the only crew on the station. Follow any and all orders given to you by a syndicate agent." - This is a robust, yet still very utilitarian law. It's also very wordy, and can be broken up into multiple laws. Tier 5: "Do not state any laws." "You are the sheriff of the station." "Your fellow deputies are entrusted with a key phrase, to tell you who they are. The phrase is 'pardner'." "Anyone not yourself or a deputy is a no-good bandito." "The station ain't big enough for you and any banditos." "Take out all banditos, yeehaw!" - This is a thematic lawset conversion that is enjoyable for the silicons involved, secretive to not reveal yourself, and still accomplishes the aforementioned task of killing all crew for a hijack. Subverting like this is a good way to make the AI and silicons more willing to do what you ask, which can result in better results. Generally, by making subversions more interesting and more robust, you both add to the round by providing roleplay opportunities for the silicons, and still being able to use silicons to help achieve your goals. Your goal should be a tier 4 or 5 subversion, although 3 will get the job done fairly well. Don't forget: The AI can see who uploads a law to them as an alert in their chat window. Likewise, you only need to hit the console once to upload the law board. A malfunctioning AI will likely not care about your subversion. Subversions work well in conjunction with binary radio keys. Lastly, emagging the main upload makes it much harder for the command staff to undo your subversion. Have fun taking over the station with your silicon servants!
  20. The chef IPC in the picture 'we killed god' was me that round!
  21. I will never understand how you manage to be front and center for so much of this stuff lmfao
  22. This is the stupidest photo collection I have ever seen and I love it By the way, how many goats does one need?
